Trek 1.2

Is a Trek 1.2 with clip on aero-bars good enough to race a full distance ironman?

If your fit is right and you’re comfortable enough for the long ride, yes. It’s not the lightest bike and it doesnt have the most aerodynamic design, but its got 2 wheels and gears, so it will work. I’d make sure you get fit to it once the aero bars are attached.

Absolutely. If you’re comfortable on that bike, ride it! People worry about this stuff too much. TT bikes are awesome. But road bikes are great. Go get it!

I did my first IM on a Columbus SL tubed Pinarello road frame with a steel fork and clip ons. No aero helmet. No race wheels. No hydration system. I’m still alive and it was one of the best days of triathlon I ever had period. Go for it! Edit: I had a 2010 1.2 and loved it very sweet machine could easily have made that an IM machine.

Thanks guys!
