Looking for a treadmill for the family, just medium usage, don’t need a lot of fancy features, but prefer solid, reliable and folding. It seems to me like the Sole 63 and the Horizon 7.0 AT would both work, and both are currently priced at $999 USD. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge either way on these two, or recommendations for something similar or better in quality around this price?
Thanks!
Dale
I have the Sole 63, works perfect for your stated use. I haven’t had any issues and for the price I paid, no complaints.
Whatever one allows you to program in race routes via Google maps and have it auto adjust to incline. My Proform does that and it’s amazing. I wouldn’t get Proform though. lol

You want to buy mine?
Which one are you selling and why?

Commercial 1750. Just isn’t for me. Not a fan of the soft vs. hard run surface. Literally has 10miles on it. Make me an offer
Sole. But I’d recommend the f80 vs f63.
Lots of complaints on horizon vs tons of positive comments for sole
Seems like more than I’m looking for, but thanks.
Thanks for the info. Why the 80 vs 63? Is there anything I’m missing other than more features?
Two main reasons
- f80 has 22 inch wide belt. f63 has 20 inch wide belt. That is a big deal to me. Maybe not for you, but that additional 2 inches may save you some day from tweaking your knee or something.
- Better motor-quicker.
Might not be worth $500 to you. But, I have the f80 and love it. Biggest reason I got it was because of the wider belt.
Good luck.
just get a woodway.
kidding.
had a sole F80, let the ex take it in the split as i technically bought it for her. treadmill was used pretty consistently for about a year between the two of us, so no long term review, but the thing was very solid, nice wide deck, not a bunch of stupid built in junk that was unnecessary. the unit was very nice and was the best “budget” treadmill ive ran on, and as far as person feel it surpassed some more higher end units ive ran on in gyms like proforms.
cant go wrong with sole IMO.
I just bought a Sole S77 two weeks ago. So far, only a couple of runs. It is replacing a more robust True PS100, so in comparing it there do seem to be some shortcomings in build quality and overall strength of the unit. I would have preferred to get a better treadmill than the S77, but with putting a new roof on our house and having some trees removed recently, there wasn’t a ton of money to put towards a new treadmill when our older one unexpectedly quit working.
The reason I went with Sole was warranty and overall reviews I found online. I don’t give a crap about anything like a touchscreen or other things that are bound to break. I honestly wish there were some awesome quality treadmills that just had a simple layout, got up to speed quickly for intervals, and just buttons for speed and incline. Of course, everyone wants the latest gimmicky things that are bound to break…

Surprised you didn’t go with Sole the first time around.
To the OP, I bought a used, 6 year-old F85 and averaged 50-60 miles/week on it for 2 years before the belt need to be replaced. Instead of buying the part and paying for install, I bought a new F65.
One thing nobody has mentioned is that Sole has good customer service.
Thanks all for the replies, appreciate the feedback. Sounds like the Sole will be a solid choice.

What do you mean about the hard versus soft?
Neither suits you, or the existence of the option is a problem somehow?

Well… that essentially is the Horizon studio series. Exactly that. I’m continually amazed by how quickly it changes speeds. Now that it’s working, I love my 7.8AT.
The only issue is, of course, the customer service challenges.
Have the F63 and it’s super under powered. Takes forever to get up to speed, which sucks for any sort of intervals/strides/etc.
Would definitely recommend the extra money for the F80
I read some pretty bad reviews and testimonials about the 7.8, which I did consider before going with the Sole. The customer service, or lack thereof, is one of the things that steered be away from Horizon.

Yup. And I can’t criticize that decision. I had an awful customer service experience with getting my incline motor repaired under warranty - it took nearly 7 weeks to get the motor repaired under warranty.
It’s a shame, because it is a really nice treadmill, and perfect for the serious runner that wants to do their own workouts, rather than something pre-programmed. It almost changes speeds TOO fast.
