Treadmill advice (1)

Looking to purchase a new treadmill before this winter hits. Plan on hitting quite a few tempo runs and VO2max intervals on the machine. I weigh in at 155 lbs and will be doing a lot of work between 5:00 - 5:20/mile.

Anyone have any good recommendations for machines that cost between $2k - $3k? The Pacemaster brand looks nice but I’ve heard that the decks are too flimsy and that the machines are too light. Can’t justify spending anymore than $3k…

Life Fitness 9500 There is a guy who sells refurbed on ebay with warrenty think they go around 1500.00 and are commercial quality and polar ready. Think max speed is 12.5. Cannot sustain that speed so do not max out. I have done 10.5 mph on them though.

Thanks man. I’ll be sure to check them out.

Here is a link, sorry my comp is slow. THink he had them cheaper about a year ago ( 1299.99 ? ) I would see if he can do a little better then his asking price. Cant be moving much gym equip now adays. I did by a johnny spin off of him and it works okay. Not much to go wrong with that though.

We have the True PS100 at home and think it’s great. Paid a little over 2k for it.

Have you put it through “the paces”?

Jason’s not that fast to put a treadmill through its paces.

Bought the treadmill for my wife after looking around at lots of treadmills and also reading about treadmills here on ST. You can search on it here and find a lot of positives about it. I’ve run on it a few times, since I run outside all the time, and have done efforts around 5:30 min/mile pace and it handled great.

Ken, I’d question the treadmill you claim to have done a 17 minute 5k on.

I say you 2 duke it out at the “WAR AT THE SHORE” on the 20th. It will be a pleasure getting beat by both of you. Ken I will bring some medical grade O2 for you. And I wont even charge you for it. LOL

A couple of winters ago I bought a Sole F-85 folding treadmill for about $2,000, brand new and delivered to my oor. Strong motor, big rollers, very durable. Don’t let the folding thing fool you, it is a VERY sturdy treadmill, not some light flexible thing.

I put a serious beating on this thing, all the way up to 12 mph and it keeps on going. Very happy with it so far.

How about treadmill that does 13, or 14, or 15 mph? I like to do some speed work on them, or even a real hard mile and I’d like to run 4:30 pace for some of that.

You are going to hard pressed to find one of those for under $3,000. At least finding a good one.

Thanks Joe. I was actually looking at these before. Thanks for the review man.
