Travelling with a Disc Wheel, or not

I’m starting to make plans to travel with my TT bike to Chicago. Im looking at purchasing the Scicon Aerocomfort bag but am
concerned with traveling with my Disc wheel on the side of the bag and getting damaged. Any suggestions on the best way
to travel with a Disc wheel or am I safer just going with my 90mm. Thanks.

Definitely more risk traveling with a disc since there’s a bunch more surface area to get munched.

For airtravel, I put a 1" styrofoam cover on both sides and then tape it together.

That assembly goes in a single wheel bag.

That single wheel bag then goes into a double wheel bag with my 808 front.

That double wheel bag goes into a cardboard box that holds other stuff.

So far this system has worked well and allows for an error or two by TSA/baggage handlers without mucking stuff up.

I have a bag and a hard box and I only take the disc in the hard box. I then only have to make sure everything inside the box is secured so it won’t fly around. I usually end up tying everything down to the frame which is secured to the box then filling all the empty space with bubblewrap or cardboard to pad it out and absorb the momentum of the parts flying around if the come loose.

You could also just get a disc cover for a deep rear wheel and store it seperatley to the wheel for travel.

Best bet is to go with either the Thule RoundTrip Transition or the Buxum Tourmalet. Alternatively you could just back it really well into a cardboard box.

I have the Scion Aerocomfort Tri bag and travelled with disc wheel with no issues.

i purchased the scicon tri aero comfort. and will be traveling with the bag and a disc in about 2 weeks time. not worried or concerned at all.
