Travel tool box (or tool roll?)

I need ideas for a way to neatly travel w my bike tools - either to races or just when I go away for the weekend w my bike. Was thinking of buying something this weekend.

Today - I grab a smattering of whatever tools I think I need, thro it all in a giant triathlon backpack. I either arrive with what I need in a giant mess, or I can’t find something / forgot to pack something and am grumpy

I’ve thought about a tool roll (which do you like?) that I can pack up w all my tools before I leave. I am enamored by the hard sided cases w the foam that look oh, so neat / but I’m not confident I can be organized enough to keep stuff in the box.

At home, I keep my commonly used wrenches / plyers on the small shelf of my bike stand - and everything else is either in a drawer or storage bin(s) depending on frequency of use. Not super ideal - but that’s a problem for another day

How do you stay organized?

Tool roll. Have a couple that came with the bike bags I still use 25 years later. Any that are about 8 inch tall work pretty well then put the longer stuff in other pockets of bags/suitcase wrapped in towel etc.

Don’t overthink and whilst may look flash, from practicality a hard sided case will take up more space you can use for way more fun things, and even needs a dedicated hand to take from car into hotel, etc, as opposed to the roll that can be attached between the rear triangle so you don’t forget it.

I think it’s overkill for what you’re looking for. But this is what I made a few years ago (already changed alot) I don’t have pictures of the latest version but anyway you get the idea. I take this to every race (that I can travel with my car) And always with the tought I don’t need any of it. But turned out I needed already a few times. Beter have it with you and don’t need it, then need it and don’t have it with you.

I always travel light, with a multitool plus a few additional pieces like a pedal wrench or red sram brake block. If I took the whole box, I’d need additional luggage checked-in.

I’m driving most places I go with my bike. I bought a tool box from HomeDepot and every tool that I ever use on a bike goes in the tool box. That way I know that I have every tool that I could possibly need. I also keep a range of spare parts, quick links, chain, electrical tape, cables, etc.

This looks really nice

When you’re at home - do you keep all the tools in the box like this?

Yes for sure then you’re sure where to find them when you need them.
