What is the best triathlon/transition bag you have owned or tried out, and why? I’ve had the Ogio 9.0 2014, the Ironman Ogio 9.0 and sold both. I currently use the Rudy Project transition bag and I freaking love it.
I used a Tyr Apex for a couple races last year, and I liked a lot about it. It has great compartments and some cool storage ideas. But, it would not hold my pointy aero helmet. So, I got a De Soto bag for this year. I like that it can easily hold my aero helmet, and I like the external straps for a bike pump. I will be using that one for the first time Saturday.
The pump straps is one thing about that bag I wish mine had. It is very convenient. Good luck on your race!
I’ve got the Ironman Ogio M9 bag and I like it

Been using a DeSoto transition bag for several years now. It’s been used heavily not just for races but everytime need to carry stuff (like when I go straight from work to a bike ride that requires a drive by car), or even for travel as my carry-on bag because it’s so easy to carry on my back and can be forced into the overhead storage compartment. Super sturdy, I absolutely loved it. Guessing mine’s about 7-8 years old, definitely showing cosmetic signs of wear but it’s still totally solid, no rips in the material, the zippers still work as new… I highly recommend it.
North Face base camp bag. Simple, waterproof, has backpack straps and a normal duffle handle, you can get it in bright colours so it’s easy to spot (for those races where you can keep the bag in transition). Since it’s a duffle and the whole top opens up, it’s easy to find stuff without having to dig around. Small things can go in the zippered mesh area in the lid.
Zipp used to make a bag. Best damn bag ever. Shoe pockets wetsuit pocket. Extremely durable. I’ve had it for 10 years and it still looks new. Not sure if they make it anymore
This is the bag that replaced the old one http://www.zipp.com/accessories/detail.php?ID=30035

Totally agree. Have had this bag five years now…great design/pockets…easy to find stuff and very high quality material…still looks like new. Square design and has small footprint in transition. Fits easily in plane overhead storage. Appears they have discontinued this model for a traditional design (duffel) that doesn’t get the best reviews. You can still find the original (Zipp Transition Bag) new on Ebay for around $120-130. Highly recommend.
I’ve got the Rudy Project transition bag. Holds everything even if I jam my aero helmet in the bag, athough then it gets a little tight. There is a separate attachment to mount the helmet on the exterior of the bag which would open up a lot more room internally.
I’ve been looking at that Zipp bag. How do you like it?
I love the “camera bag” like dividers.
I haven’t bought it…yet. I kind of want to try it out.
It also comes with a pouch for swim gear, and 3 bags for bike gear, run gear and post race clothes. I love mine. It seems like the one I have (with white) has been discontinued
Rocket Science Sports. Freakin’ love mine. They have multiple styles. I’ve had mine since 2010-2011. Many compartments & even a removable wet clothes bag.
Get the cheap one that is on clearance. Tri is too expensive enough to care about a specific bag. It’s just a bag.
The one that can carry all this… ZEROD Transition bag
