Looking to get a transition bag for Xmas (I love when they ask you what you want).
Any recommendations on bags? I’ve been looking into the Zoot 2.0 bag with the protective helmet pocket and detachable wetsuit bag… Trying to keep this at around $100-150.
That’s often true on race day but not on bike check-in etc. I use my transition bag also when going out for training etc and I guess that’s how most people use it.
And the clear plastic bag policy only applies to large events. There are lots of nice races (at least in Europe) where you can use non-clear bags as well

I like my DeSoto bag. Room for everything and then more (I usually carry a lot of unneeded stuff that I end up giving to fellow athlete that forgot their own stuff).
I only have to deal with plastic bags at IM events. Everything else I can carry my bag, hook it up on the transition rack. I also usually carry a plastic bin for change clothes (in case of rain).
I second the Rudy Project Transition bag. Perfect for training/racing. Lots of pockets for just about anything you would need on race day. Waterproof compartment for swim stuff. Excellent bag. Often on sale. It retails for about $200 I think. I paid $80ish for it. Was editors pick in Triathlon magazine for 2015 I think.

I have this bag too. Really well laid out with lots of pockets and sections for different gear. I paid $60 with a club discount - no way it’s worth the price that Rudy has on their website.
I have a coupon for Rudy as well. I actually was looking into this one, but the only thing I didn’t like was that it was duffel bag style and not able to be a backpack. Maybe I should just get it regardless if it’s such a good bag. Anyone have codes I could use so that it wouldn’t be $200?
Ogio Endurance 9 or the Ironman branded M9 that has another hardshell storage pocket and a rain cover
+1 for the Endurance 9. The IM one has some cool features for being left out in the wet stuff, but the IM billboard on it is a little bit of a turnoff.
I own the TYR bag and the Ogio M9. I haven’t used the M9 yet because I got it when the season ended. The TYR Convoy is a great bag. The only reason I got the M9 was because I wanted a bag that didn’t lay flat

Just a general question- I have access like most to get the $125 price, but how would one go about getting the smoking deal you paid??? I thought 50% off was a good deal…

I own the OGIO Endurance 8.0 and love it. It is not quite as large as the 9.0, which I like but has all the same features. These are well-made, good looking bags, and great for strapping on and riding your bike to T1 on race morning.

My team got a 65% off code for their ‘Ambassador Sponsorship Program’ - we had a code that was good for six days in July. Maybe the code still works: ‘nemultisport’ was our code. I also think that the price of the bat wasn’t $249 at that point - maybe around $200. With shipping I think it was around $70 after the code.

I have the 9.0and the wife has the 8.0. I wish I had gotten the 8.0. The 9 is almost too big. I’ve never come close filling it up as a transition bag. So I don’t think anyone is missing much with the 8 instead of the 9.
But I highly recommend the Ogio Endurance. They’re awesome bags. I like using mine for camping too as I can throw my nasty hiking boots into the shoe compartment and stuff any nasty clothes into the wetsuit space as well. It’s really versatile beyond triathlon.
The Nathan Tri Transition bag is the best one out there! And no, you’re imagining the one I have for sale cheap in the classifieds.
In all seriousness, it’s the only one I have direct experience with. There’s a compartment for a wetsuit, shoes, helmet, and everything else. It’s pretty nice to get organized the day before and just lug the bag to transition.
