hello,
I am debating upgrading to Premium account, anyone has experience with it? Is it worth it? I like TP and it works for me, but would like to use it more to analyze my workouts and sync with my calendar. I use mac so I like the ability to plan and upload my workout either from home or work.
Any recommendations?
Yes, Love it!!! Planning, organization and additonal tools. If your serious about your training and racing it is an easy fit.
I bought it and cancelled it. If you love planning and doing whatever is on the schedule, you’ll love it.
If you like to listen to your body and go hard on days that seem too easy and then force yourself to do a recovery day the next day when it was a tempo session; you’ll hate it.
The main reason for me would be the ability to analyze my power from cycling workouts, however I suppose I could use WKO+ for that.
There are known* issues currently with Training Peaks scheduled workouts showing up on incorrect days on the calendar view, workouts disappearing, summed weekly totals not displaying, etc. and this has been going on for weeks. Customer support says it’s a Google Chrome bug and suggests using another browser. There are complaints that it’s not a problem isolated to those using Google Chrome but I have not independently verified that.
*Known issues - these are acknowledged by Training Peaks via a banner placed at the bottom of the calendar view with a suggestion to click on it for more information. Takes you to their Facebook page.
I think the Premium subscription is probably a good enough product for the price but I’d not want to start paying for it until the current issues are fixed.
Is there any way to synchronize TP with Strava? I’m currently logging all my workouts on Strava.
Sorry not a strava user… but it does look like it … http://strava-tools.raceshape.com/exporter/
Edit: just realized you said snyc… no idea if they will talk to each other… TP does talk to your calendars though.
Yeah, i’ve noticed the bug using Chrome. When I switch to IE, the bug disappears.

I had it and then cancelled it. User interface is horrible. Like using a Commodore 64. I can track what I need on Garmin or Strava for much less money. My coach uses it and she still plans my work-outs on it. But it doesn’t cost me anything and I doubt I’d pay for it again. JMHO
Absolutely worth it. I’ve been using TP for over 5 years now and find it a great tool for tracking my training, nutrition and calories (in and out) and even the mileage on my equipment (shoes and bikes).
There is so much information available that it takes a while to figure out what you want to display, and where, but it tracks whatever you put into it, so you can always change the information you display at any time.
If you have a powermeter, then I think either Training Peaks or WKO+ is essential for analysing your data, and I find both/either great for comparing my current power profile to that of previous known peaks to assess where I am in my training. Together with the ATL and CTL I can easily see from the metrics how my training is going compared to current and past time periods.
For the money, its the best triathlon related spend I make each year
I have been experiencing that issue with Chrome and IE9 for about 10 days.

This is actually a legit chrome bug, not a TP bug. I use a different site that uses Adobe Flex and they have the same problem, said there is a patch working it’s way through the ecosystem last I checked.

I have only been able to get TP to semi-reliably work in IE9, in Chrome there were so many errors that I stopped using it altogether.
The two big things you get when moving to the deluxe version would be the Friel workout planner and the workout graphs.
The Friel computerized workout planning asisstance part of it is solid, not super awesome but generates solid plans and you could do a LOT worse than what it does for you.
The workout analysis is good.
The mean max power and mean max heart rate graphs are quite good when it comes time to plan effort for races. Things like, well I am planning on riding at 220 watts for my next half ironman but the mean max power graph says the highest I have ever averaged for 2 hours was 210. Hmmm, maybe I should rethink my plan.
But for that part of it, the mean max power end of it, you can get that from phil skiba’s raceday and probably from sporttracks and wko+ as well.
Unfortunately it still looks like it was designed by a short sighted Spectrum 16k user with half his keyboard missing based on a mock up he created using lego bricks.
I can’t wait for them to release the HTML5 version, anyone have any idea when that will be? For something that is not exactly the cheapest online subscription it looks and feels like crap.

I just purchased the “premium” package… Doesn’t WKO+ come with that? How do I access this WKO+ data?
D
Definitely NOT.
Aging, slow interface. Essentially no integration with anything except maybe uploads form Wahoo apps. Total joke of a mobile app.
It’s good, just inconvenient and annoying to use.
WKO+ is separate, but most of the functionality is built into the premium version of the website.

Not sure what you bought exactly I’m just a fellow user.
But the premium version includes several useful graphs, including the pace vs time, power vs time, and pmc chart that you won’t get in the basic version.
Also, you can grab a section of a file and get all the specs for JUST that highlighted piece of the file.
If anyone wants to try premium for free for 2 weeks DM me. I’ll hook you up with an upgrade.
