Training tire Recommendation for hills?

I switch out my carbon wheels for alloy wheels when I do my weekly hill ride… Dont want to be braking down the mountain on my carbon wheels, which I use for training and races year round.

Any Recommendation for good training tires in the mid price range for my hill rides? I’ve tried Gatorskins, and wanted to try another tire. Thanks!

I’m a fan of the Schwalbe tyres, with One on my race ( when I used to race ) and now have Schwalbe Durano on my commuter.
Slightly heavier and more durable due to puncture protection layer.
also used to use Michelin Carbon, again, great tyre, similar to Michelin Pro but from a more durable rubber.
p.s. am not a fan of the Gatorskins as they’re just to tough and lacked any sort of subtlety, that I’d like in hill descending.

otherwise, any tyre you feel like using.

I’ve run several thousand miles on the new Michelin Power tires - great feel and very decent mileage. I’d go for the Endurance model, available up to 28c. Makes a nice Winter tire as well

This is why people shouldn’t buy full carbon wheels, but rather alloy rim, carbon fairing wheels like the HED Jet+ or Swiss Side Hadron. All the advantages of full carbon wheels, except for a slight weight penalty, and none of the disadvantages. And if the weight matters at all, it’ll be in the mountains, but that’s where the braking becomes an issue and you leave the light wheels behind anyway!

But I digress, I’d use Michelin Pro 4, Michelin Power or GP4000sII. Whichever you can get a good price on. If you tend to get punctures, perhaps consider the Endurance model in either of the Michelins or the GP 4 Seasons although the later is usually unreasonably expensive. I use GP4000sII all year round without any punctures or other issues and they’re much nicer to ride, and grippier, than something like Gatorskins.

Am I missing something?

Why would you be asking for a specific tire for hills? What would be the difference? (I just use the same tire for all training rides.)

Honest question.

Thank you
