Training mask?

Has anyone used one of those altitude training masks that keeps getting advertised in triathlete? If so, what did you think? Seems pretty gimmicky to me, but I’m a little interested.

Thanks

I use one. It is NOT the same as working at altitude. The percentage of oxygen does not change. You just have to work harder to breathe in.

HOWEVER, I believe it is beneficial in strengthening your diaphragm and lungs.
I picked mine up to increase my endurance for interval workouts and for sparing sessions in jiu jitsu. I have not used it on the treadmill or on my bike on the trainer.

tl;dr?
its a gimmickbetter to train low, sleep highrestricting total air is not the same as limiting oxygen per breath (you will just suck harder to fill your lungs with a normal volume of sea level air, thus no physiological difference)
it may make your diaphragm stronger (is this your weak link?)you will look like Bane
