Looks like work is sending me there for a week next week.
Any good run routes, pools? Doubt I will have time to rent a bike, but just in case …
Any advice as always appreciated.

My company is based just outside of Basel so I’ve ran quite a bit around the city itself. I don’t normally have the time to bike or swim, so I can’t give you any input there. (although one summer I remember seeing people jumping in the Rhine and floating downstream about 1k, getting out, then walking back and doing it again.) I tend to head out along the river and cross bridges back and forth. It’s typical European paths having a combination of paved and dirt pathways running parallel to the water. A nice route is to head north (effectively) towards the German border. On the way back cross over the river and wind your way back where you started. Another good option is from downtown Basle (SBB area) go out by the Botanical Gardens towards Muttenz. There are plenty of great wooded trails out there to keep you off the road. Basle to Muttenz out and back is about 15-20k round trip.
Enjoy, it’s a nice place to run.
i spend about 9-10 days/yr. in basel on biz too. usually in march/april. i’m usually in the messeplatz area, so here’s my run route:
Thanks ot everyone so far - it always amazes me how international this sport and this forum is - you can pretty much say - I am going to XXXX and someone will have been there and trained at some time. Great stuff.
I lived in Basel for two years. Fantastic running and cycling there.
Just run along the Rhine river. There is many bridges to cross.
Depending on where you are based, you could also run at “Lange Erlen” (google maps “basel, lange erlen”).
The nice outside pool should be closed by now (or closes soon).
However, there is a very crowded 25m indoor:

If you get to rent a bike, black forest and the Jura mountains are just outside Basel - gorgeous!
Further questions, let me know!
