Training based on Core Temp Sensor

Is the Core Temp Sensor worth the $230-285 (on sale for $230 currently it seems)? For anyone who wants to say yes, what athlete/goals is the Core Temp Sensor worth it for? And how do you train with it? I’d imagine the Core sensor is for folks who are training for a race environment with excessive heat (hello Ironman 70.3 Cozumel in September, I’m looking at you!!)

I was under the impression that it was proved really doesn’t tell your core temperature and skin temperature is not an accurate account of what’s happening to the core temperature

In fact, there isn’t it true when you first start working out your skin temperature goes down?

I have/had one of these, was in the beta group, if I can find it you can have it, shoot me a PM.

Once you know where you’re break point is then you can use it to dial back your effort/increase your cooling strategy(ies) when working out or in a race. Not sure if it shows real time core temp or not.

I think it’s a tool, I think there are more useful tools. I’ll give you a more useful tool imo. Increased fitness. Adding 2-3-4% more bike fitness or run fitness or adding swim fitness. All that makes any environmental conditions less daunting. The less fit you are the less margin of error you have when it gets hot, or humid or hot & humid or windy or there are hills or all of the above.

Hope that helps you frame things better

It’s just one more tool, mostly helps to know when you are getting close to critical temp that will force you to walk. After using a lot in training and seeing the numbers, can be useful to set boundary for slowing down on hot races.
May not be accurate, but seems reasonably consistent so there is value.
HR is more important IMHO, but it’s certainly not total snakeoil.
