Hi there,
i’m planning to hang out in Noosa for two months of good triathlon training. My plan is to be there in March and April.
I’m from Germany and i’m really interested about the infrastructure there.
Swimming+Gym should be possible at NAC (Noosa Aquatic Centre), right?
What about the runs? Are there any good running routes? Noosa Parks seems to be a possiblity? Any flat routes?
Concerning Biking, the hinterland seems to be good. What about the traffic? Is it really dangerous, as i read in some postings?
Could anyone give me an advice where i could find a share/apartment/etc. to stay for to months. I already searched the flatmates, airbnb websites but there are not many offers which are affordable.
Would be really happy to get some feedback from some guys who are familar with the area.

My parents live there, so I know a little about the area. Some good pools in the area with tri.swim squads that you can join e.g Noosa aquatic centre, also good for open water swimming, sharks are only small. Some good trail runs in the national parks, not heaps of flat running (at least I couldn’t find good long runs) other than along David Low Way which seem to have paths that ended abruptly. There’sa few grass athletic tracks in the areas such as Girraween sporting complex, good for intervals. Bike lanes are huge and you could probably ride 2 even 3 abreast in some places, especially along David Low Way, so pretty safe and a beautiful ride along the coast. Montville and surrounding area good for hill rides, spectacular views of Sunshine coast, never rode here, just drove up into Montville. Looked OK for riding from a safety perspective.
For accomodation, maybe post on Noosa Triathlon clubs Facebook page.
I’ve only been there once to visit, but it seems like a very good place to train for warm triathlons, particularly Kona.
Queensland is not a cheap place to visit, so get used to spending a bit. Gumtree probably has the best housemate advertising so I’d use that to search around.
In Australia Gumtree is the major Ebay/Craigslist etc alternative and where most people buy and sell things. I don’t think there’s anything better for accommodation there. It’s also good for buying anything triathlon-related that you might not bring with you.
My advice is to avoid backpacker hostels and other such places. You won’t get any sleep because they are filled with Germans/French/British/Americans who have come to Australia to party and travel. Not good for someone who wants to focus and train.
