Training and stitches

So this past Saturday I crashed and got a nice gash above my ankle inside my leg. Had to get about 15 stitches to close it up. A lot of the soreness is going away and I’m going crazy not being able to train (especially considering the forecast is great for the week).

The question is…can I train with stitches? They aren’t on a joint but I can still feel some pain on the wound when I walk. Is it bad to have sweat on that area? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ask your doctor? I like to stay out of the pool until everything is scabbed over. I don’t think sweat is a big deal as long as you shower promptly.

Take a couple of extra days off.Mind you I’m not one to give advice as I once did Ironman Canada with a bunch of stitches in the back of my head.

I plan on staying out of the water because of infection, but it’s already been 3 days since I had them.

Problem is I don’t really have a doctor. I’ve had no real need for a doctor since I stopped going to the Ped. I went to the ER for this, but it’s not very convenient to get to and didn’t even see a doctor there anyway.
