Trainer Smart Bikes--Regret buying one or recommend buying one

Anyone regret buying a Trainer-Smart Bike? Tacx NEO Bike, etc…

I am willing to invest if it gives you a better road feel, etc…

Nope. Riding my Neo bike as I type this.

How long have you had it? How many hours/week? Satisfied with the ability to create a fit like your road bike?

I have the wahoo kickr bike and I like it much better than the taxc smart trainer I had. I have the gearing set up for my road bike and also my gravel bike so I can switch back-and-forth if I want and fit is pretty close.

I especially like that it will go up and down if I’m riding anything with a hill. I had knee replacement surgery and being stuck in one position on a trainer does not make my knee happy. That said, I don’t like riding indoors generally but for riding indoors I’m glad that I made the purchase.

Any chance you’ve ridden the Neo 2T (or one of the early versions) as well? I have the 2T now and I’m thinking about upgrading to the Neo Bike, but I have two concerns. The first is the width of the frame. Have you had any issues with this? The second is that I really like the movement that you get on the Neo 2t. There’s flex built into the frame of the trainer, similar to what you get in the new Kickr with the axis feet. I’m concerned that I may miss that if I go to the Neo Bike.

I have been using the Stages SB20 for a year+ and really like it.
Looked at the Kickr bike tried it, felt a little flimsy and have no use for the tilt.
Stages is rock solid, nice heavy fly wheel, nice placement of switches, easy to adjust, 2 usb etc, left and right power, cost less.
I like the heavy fly wheel it gives a good road feel.
Shane Miller( YouTube) gives a complete review on the stages bike and there are others that compare the stages , wahoo & neo

i have the unique opportunity to ride two different ones. at my remote work location i have a tacx bike smart, at home i have a wahoo kickr bike.

i absolutely LOVE having dedicated machines for for indoor training. i cant state that enough. better road feel? you’re not gonna get anything different from a standard trainer.

out of the two i would pick the wahoo bike every day of the week, and twice on sunday.

Did you put aerobars on your indoor bikes? Would prefer to have race-type position on it.

only delta to the wahoo bike, i personally can not replicate my aero position exactly on it with clip on aero bars. im going to have to get a drop stem to get lower. for some that may not be an issue. i find riding higher isnt horrible though.

I’ve had it since it first arrived in the USA. Fall 2019 if I recall correctly. The fit options are kind of endless assuming you’re not munchkin short or NBA center tall.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s necessary to be EXACTLY like your outdoor bike. ‘Close enough’ is totally fine for sure, but it is good to be able to put clip ons so you can at least get used to having that sort of weight distribution and position.

Absolutely hated riding indoors, but winter is winter and you do what you got to do. I’d rather ride outdoors in the cold rain and wind. I would only resort to indoor suffering on zwift after it gets really cold for riding (so sub zero C)

Buying Kickr Bike in december changed everything. I now ride some of my rides indoors even in summer.

Best ever cycling purchase I’ve made – and I have 3 other bikes.

I had the original Neo trainer.

The width of the frame is not noticeable at all except the part around the seat post and that will be entirely dependent on where you position the saddle fore/aft on the bike and how thick your legs are. You could potentially have some thigh rub if your seat is far back and you have thick legs.

The original Neo trainer had a couple of degrees sway as well. I don’t notice it not being there if we are being honest.
