I was watching it in HD. Way cool.
What I want to know is, how is it possible to run a 10.01 for a 100m sprint when you just shut it down and cruise for the last 50m? That is insane, I don’t know how anyone is going to beat Asafa Powell this year.
Actually…
Tyson Gay took him down. Trying to figure out if Powell shut down…it looks like he let up late, but Gay just blasted him. It was crazy to see that.
On a side note, what do people think of the false start rule? For those who don’t know, it used to be that an athlete carged with 2 false starts was disqualified. Now, regardless of who gets the first false start, the next false start results in disqualification, whether it’s an athlete’s first or second. Apparently the trick is to purposely false start if someone is a great starter. Putting the whole field on edge sort of “holds” them in the block just that little bit extra.
10,000 tonight, galen rupp and abdi

I saw that - Powell was “only” 3rd. I expected a lot better based on how well he ran in the quarter and semi finals. But hats off to Gay, 9.85 is a smokin’ fast time.
