TP therapy - quadballer - daily use?

I’ve been getting back into regularly using the TP therapy products (quad roller, the smaller roller for soleus, and the ball for pririformis).

For the past 2-3 weeks, I’ve been using the TP therapy quadballer on my quads & IT band, as instructed from TP (directly on quads, 45 degrees, then 90 degrees on IT band). For the past couple days, I’ve noticed a unique pain, not quite on my kneecap, but just to the left of it, where the bottom of the quad is, very close to the knee. I took last night off from using the quadballer, and today’s morning ride was fine, no pain. Am I doing more harm than good by using the quadballer daily (once a day)? I’ve read that you shouldn’t directly roll the IT band, is that true? And my other question, although it’s getting better, there is still a significant amount of tenderness, especially rolling my IT band - both legs. Shouldn’t it start feeling good after 2-3 weeks?!?

I personally don’t like using the quadballer on my IT band…too much concentrated pressure, IMO. However, it is more convenient to travel with than a foam roller so I use it on the road. When I do, I usually plant my other leg @ 90* to remove some of the pressure from the quadballer.

the TP foam roller “The Grid” is the “best” combination of firm core and soft foam on top, IMO.

Unless you are in the acute phase of an IT issue, I don’t know if there is much benefit to directly rolling an IT band. Most people will now tell you that you can’t “stretch” an IT band anyway. BUt the jury is still out on this one…and I think it also varies by individual. Plenty of anecdotal evidence from people who roll their IT bands that it works.
