Torque wrenches (3)

I’ve seen a number of posts about torque wrenches but haven’t found one that goes as low as 1 on their dial. having watched the Cervelo hidden brake install and seeing they recommend a few torque settings at 1…I’m wondering who makes on that goes this low? Can’t make it out in the video which one they use.

might have to look into one of them bad boys.

I am not at all certain about this…not even close to certain.

Some bolts that ask for a super low torque expect for there to be Locktite on the threads that actually bind the thread to the connection point. You may want to check this and see if 222 is called for (or if there is “Nylock” on one of the thread sets). If so, I would not get a torque wrench, I would just put in the bolt and wait for the thread locker to dry.

1 what? ft/lb? or Nm?

I like this:
Giustaforza but it only goes to 2-16 Nm

1.5 ft/lb ~=2 Nm.

Why not just have a kid tighten it?

exactly…1 what? There are all kinds of torque wrenches with all sorts of ranges. A 10-50 in/lb wrench would give you the resolution you need. 1 ft/lb = 12 in/lb

Could the reason they call for a 1nm setting on the brake is so you can move it from side to side to line it up with your wheel? I mean a 1nm setting is super low and would essentially be hand tightening it so that it is snug, not cranking it down. Surely the carbon frame or fork can handle more than 1nm.

Park Tool sells a beam style wrench (TW-1) that’s much cheaper than a click style, if price is a factor. I’ve been eyeing it for myself, to do things like seatpost binders and stems.

Nm is what they call for in the following video
