Torhans straw mast

I don’t know what material the straw mast is made of but I would be careful with supper glue. Cyanoacrylate will make plastics such as ABS brittle over time. I would use hot melt just to be on the safe side.

Yes, it will fit…not as snug as the TH bracket but it will work
.

I remember watching Chrissie’s video from kona last year, where she just dumped a bottle from a aid station in to a torhans. the video started before she got to the aid station, so i definitely recall that she didnt take the lid off, which would mean she didnt have the lid on in the first place. How did she not have any splash issues?

Chrissie, Dirk, and Andi all had the splash barrier with one ‘tab’ cut to refill quicker. And the Queen K has no chip seal. To answer a couple of comments here. 1. Silicone on the rear hole of the aero mast that goes over the ‘peg’ will keep your mast secure on even Texas chip seal. 2. We’re working on a couple of designs (pins, barbs on the collar) for future revisions, but silicone is the way to go and I don’t recommend anything else. 3. New splash barrier samples are here in a week. Should be out on all new bottles and available in 45ish days. These are very slightly recessed harder 5 star die cut barriers.4. We have just finished engineering in CAD our 100% Splash/leak proof, hard spring loaded, gasket sealed, fill on the go cover. Much testing needs to be done but so far I really like it. Looking at a summer release.
5. Good times. 6. Email me at hans@torhans.com with any questions. 7. Ride safely fast and hydrate! 8. “I forget what 8 was for” (Name that song).

Now that sounds promising…let us know when its ready!

What’s the difference between the new “blue” straw and the old “clear” straw?

is it just a little longer? (and blue)

+1 +1 +1 +1

Why the hell didn’t they do a loop? I mean, did they use the thing on anything longer than a 20 mile ride? So close to refinement.

Right you are Carl! One of my first concerts and had a great time, half a life ago.

The blue straw is softer and longer…and *blue er. *The clear straw was actually light blue. The ones on all of our current new bottles are indeed the blue longer, softer straws.

Yep, of course we tested everything. We’re just making it better than the original. All the refinements came out with the Aero 20 and 2nd Gen Aero 30s and of course more to come like I mentioned above.

Like every company, we’re striving to make our products better all the time. No resting and lack of testing whether it be aero or functional. It is our mission to bring the most aerodynamic, functional, adjustable, cool, and safest (BPA free, hands free) hydration systems on the market. And we know we’re not the only ones who want to achieve this. So we will not stop testing, innovating and producing the best bicycle/multisport hydration, storage, and other soon to be released products that we can.

Ride safely, fast and hydrate.

Hans, I sent you an email yesterday regarding the “Skins” listed on your website. When will these be available?

Michael

Hi Michael,

Sorry I have not responded to your email yet. I will by Monday. Yeah, we had some skins made by 2 different vendors and I just was not all that happy with either of them. I do see the utility in having them for summer training rides, and we recently have been getting a lot of requests for these. I will get back to you on the status of the skins before months end.

Thanks for your interest.

Lol…we were at the pickle barrel in Killington Vt. where they were playing. We were getting a little nuts all drunk and slam dancing with each other. More like pushing, punchimg and tripping each other. We went to The wobbly barn before, ate a big prime rib meal and got all tuned up. A friend kept sharting his pants on the dance floor and stopped the lead singer and band dead in the middle of a song and asked “Who ever was cuttin the cheese please stop!!” funny shit I will always remember.

Hans -

I have the Aero 30 and it rattles badly. It’s embarrassing passing other cyclists that don’t have as fancy of a hydration system as mine, because mine is making so much noise. It is securely mounted on my aerobars with zip ties and also using thick double-sided tape between bars and TH mount. So I’ve ruled out the mount as being the noise-maker, at least there is no vibration between the mount and the bars. It appears to be that the wrap-around part of the mount that the bottle slips between just doesn’t provide a snug enough fit with the bottle and on our Texas chip-seal roads and gator-cracks the bottle just vibrates like it’s nobody’s business. It really does sound horribly cheap!

Are you testing to remedy this problem? Is there a solution planned? And for those of us that have the ‘shower-caps’ that you are testing new solutions for, will these be provided as a ‘fix’ for us?

Thanks,
Barry

Hey Barry. Happy Monday. It is funny you mention Texas, as we hear more about the terrible chip sealed roads you have down there than anywhere else. We have our fair share of chip seal in Bend OR, but it must not nearly be the same. Having said that, do you have the front velcro cinched down? The Aero 20 does have some more tolerance because of its shape, as we did not want to compromise aero. However, cinching it down with velcro solves it and keeps it snug. The 30 should be even more snug once it is cinched down. We obviously cannot control road conditions, but we are taking that into consideration and is why we are developing the two new covers like I mentioned above. One is the new splash barrier, out in 30 days, and yes will be delivered with all of our bottles and sent to retailers, the other is the hard, snap in 100% splash proof cover due out this summer.

We have thought about lining the mount with rubber silicone or even the velcro strip, but it really has not been an issue. Feel free to contact me and I’m sure I can help you out and find a quick solution.

Best,
Hans

I used to have the noise issue, but I lined the inside of my mount with Velcro and it has worked fantastically for silencing things. A little silicone in the straw mast fixed that problem too.

Heres my set-up

I put felt around the inside of my mount which helped with the rattle. I also switched from zip ties to Velcro straps to hold it on my bike which makes removal for cleaning the bike and mount easier and more environmentally friendly than cuttin four zip ties off every week or two.

I can’t wait to see the flip top cover.

Applied the velcro to the mount and my rattles are over! Thanks for the solution.
