Top three thing I have learned on Slowtwitch

Thought that this might be an interesting way to waste company time on this fine Tuesday.
The top three things that I have learned on Slowtwitch:

  1. My seat is too high
  2. Chocolate milk is essential
  3. Milk is pus (yuck)
I know that I am not the most astute pupil, so what have you learned?

some dude wants to have ted mcgregor’s baby.

  1. More is … more
  2. I don’t have cake yet
  3. Slow is the new fast
  1. Swimming is unnecessary.
  2. Running is asking for injuries.
  3. Just buy bike gear instead.

seperating fact from fiction is the least of concerns

If it worked for me it must work for you, and you and you also aka science pffffffffttttt who needs it aka it pro X did it - it has to be right

The powers that be in the triathlon world read ST. They may not post but they read it.

Tom Demerly’s wife is freaking HOT!

  1. Don’t communicate with Kangaroo
  2. People (including me) have WAY too much time on their hands
  3. Take a look at the Slowtwitch Classifieds for ST exclusive discounts and sales.

That’s nice of you to say, and she is a beautiful girl. Sarah’s looks are only the surface though, she is also (and more significantly):
An experienced bike fitter for road and triathlon with about 1,000 fits to her credit and specific insights into female specific fit. A skilled business person who has managed two high volume food and beverage businesses before coming to bicycle retail. An experienced and life long athlete who swam and dove for Wayne State University and was a gymnast and cheerleader in high school as well as Prom Queen, Student Body President and Honor Roll Student. A (former- soon to be renewed) licensed personal trainer who has worked privately and for gyms and health clubs such as Bally’s and YMCA. An experienced triathlete who has raced in some of the most challenges events in the sport in both trithlon and duathlon with some pretty impressive results. A model who is currently fetured on the DeSoto website modelling their new '07 fall apparel line.
Sarah’s a babe but much more than just a pretty face…

The best bike is a Cervelo P3C with clincher disk and 808 front set up with a 20cm drop seat (Fizik) to aerobars and michelin pro race tires with latex tubes. Now that THAT is settled…aero helmet (LG) only if you average 22mph+

In order of shopping priority, a power meter should be ahead of running shoes, and a running GPS is ahead of swim goggles.

I have learned that you have to read between the lines and filter out the BS to get any good info here.

its all about the run
more is…usually more
think smooth for the swim
.

There’s good info here?

definately good info!! Anytimes the coaches (Dev, Desert Dude, etc…) start debating there is great info to be captured. Plus race reviews, product reviews, insider tidbits, pro triathlete postings, etc…

I will say it again…you are a marketing guru.

I also learned that Chocolate Milk is a great recovery drink several months before it was widely reported in the media, so we’ll call that number 1.

For number 2, I learned that some how Triathlon’s growing level of participation means that the sport is in trouble.

And third, I learned that I don’t know as much as I thought, but I know more than some people who think they know so much.

  1. you can ask a question about just about any square foot of the country and someone will be able to tell you everything you want to know about it.

  2. there is absolutely no discussion that can’t deteriorate into a debate about powercranks.

  3. a lot of triathletes are very, very rich.

Actually, those aren’t the top 3. They are the most surprising 3.

#1 – great observation and well stated.
#3 – I think ST members have a tendency to exaggerate.

I think we need to add to the list that every new ST member has done a full IM for their first triathlon.

  1. It’s Ok to run first then bike–the specificity principle is not etched in stone.

  2. Fast swimmers have a high elbow–I don’t have a high elbow…yet.

  3. Pulling at the bottom of the pedal stroke is inefficient.

With Tom’s approval, I will give ST a preview of Sarah in 2007 De Soto garments sometime between Christmas and New Year, when our offices close down for a week. I had the pleasure of photographing her here in San Diego in November. She is great in front of a camera, but certainly one of the nicest, energetic, and most brilliant women I have ever photographed.

  1. it is all about the swim
  2. don’t give internet access and a digital camera to a bunch of guys in Las Cruces who have nothing to do except train.
  3. never, ever, go to the gym with R10C
