Top ten most painful things we do for racing

  1. ice bath for recovery. This freakin hurts! oh well, back in the tub I go.

anyone else got one? I remember someone (Francois?) doing like a 5/2 brick once.

I find the physical pain ok to deal with but what about all the family/friend stuff we miss/sacrifice - that’s sometimes harder to do than hill repeats in 95 degrees…or 10 x 100 sprints in the pool…or…

that was 6h/2h and the bike was on the trainer…that wasn’t painful, that was dumb
.

i don’t regret it yet…well…not a lot

but possibly missing out on the ‘normal’ college lifestyle for this goofy sport.

  1. the knees…they just hurt

The most painful thing? Reading all the inane comments on Slowtwitch Forums for the odd nugget of useful and/or amusing informaiton.

  1. Eat all you can, while you can in the recovery tent
    .

Showering after a hard race or session and discovering you have chafage. OUCH!

deodorant the day after a race with majore chafage
.

Working out hours and hours everyday… and still having to watch what we eat.

Screw that noise…

Ok ok, you’re right. I might even have to give up beer/wine! How sad is that?!?

AP :stuck_out_tongue:

there are places on my body where I have chaffing scars. that doesn’t happen without it hurting like hell.

moreover, some of the hills that rroof and marisol have drug me up…that hurts…all over!!

kc

Deep tissue massage - just as painful as ice baths.

That’s just nasty.

How about getting yer big toenail pulled (Big Blackie I used to call it) because it just won’t grow in right enough to let you ride/run pain free? That’s some serious pain.
