I have checked out many threads in this forum on century rides and gran fondo. From your experiences, what is your favorite, organized century ride? Having just completed America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride (century) in Tahoe, my friends and I are looking for another one to enjoy.
A bit longer than a century, but arguably the most epic one-day organized ride you will find anywhere in the US

Sign up early. It sold out quicker than an Ironman this year.

Beautiful ride that will test you. Very well organized.
I really liked this one last year - Auburn Century - and am doing it again this weekend.
It’s not that far from Tahoe either.
Old Kentucky Home Bicycle Tour, (aka OKHT)
I have done this one multiple times and have always enjoyed. It is the winner of the League of American Bicyclists Best Century award. I have not done other centuries so I don’t know how it stacks up but I think the organization is top notch.
You want Epic? The “Diabolical Double” double metric century is as hard as they come. Left the Rapha Continental boys in tatters after they rode it as part of their North America Epic Ride tour last year.
2010 is inaugural year as an organized ride. There will be carnage. Think the hardest bits of SavageMan for 125 miles.

another good one down this way is coming up later this month
I just did AMBBR too. Had a good day out there once I got passed the early starters. Our Rocky Mountain TnT group went off at 6:25 and it was a bit crowded until after Emerald Bay.
I’ve done the Triple Bypass and Elephant Rock rides here in CO. ERock is fun but the Triple can be Epic. Gives Tahoe a run for it’s money on scenery too.
For comparison sake, I rode Tahoe in 5:10. My best time at the Triple (122 miles) is 6:45.
Here is a Midwest Centuy that a riend of mine has done - Apple Cider Century

This years ride is Sunday, September 26, 2010
Apple Cider Century (ACC) is an annual one-day 15, 25, 37, 50, 62, 75 or 100 mile bicycle tour of the orchards, forests and wine country in and around Three Oaks, Michigan. The ACC is a recreational and social tour for bicyclists. It is neither a race nor a test of stamina. It is intended that all participants ride the tour in a safe and intelligent manner.
