OK, am I fooling myself into thinking that these and other similar noodles are ok to eat while IM training. They have a lot of fat and salt but taste so good.
Thanks
Mike

If Top Ramen is the worst you’re eating then I think you’re fine. Fat and salt aren’t necessarily bad things for endurance athletes (assuming you’re not overweight or have high blood pressure).
I ate Top Ramen every day for 20+ years. I had all kinds of ways to cook it. Nobody loved it more than I.
I’m glad have moved on though - it’s not exactly healthy fare. It’s cheap for a reason.
“”“Nobody loved it more than I.”“”
How DARE you insult me like this. I’d slap you across the face with a glove if you were here. I love Top Ramen more than anyone.

You don’t know who you’re dealing with Grasshopper. You F%$*& with the wrong Marine.
This calls for a Top Ramen cook-off!
Bring it on!!!

Sounds sort of like that Spam Cook-off they had in Austin, Texas.

Okay, let me get this straight - you two are arguing over noodles?
Shakes head side to side while shuffling feet with hands placed deep in pockets whistling theme from the High and the Mighty…
My regular fare for many years: two packets of Top Ramen, ground beef or ground turkey, imitation crab, tomatoes, green onions, cilantro, soy bean, basil, lemon, soy sauce, oil, hot sauce. Takes 15 minutes to cook, and ohhhh so good. Yum!
That support group will offer various types of ramin for tasting.
Hve you had the really good kind they sell at Cotco in the freezer? Its not 10/$1 but its yummy. Add in some diced ham, green onions and kamaboko. Tasty…kj
Are you thinking of the S&S brand? The frozen noodles beat the dried hands-down! I kinda chuckle at the fuss everyone is making over Top Ramin. Next time you people visit the islands you gotta check out one of the many saimin shops around town. Best saimin, ramin or udon with all the goodies in it that’ll make you think twice about that packaged brand. I was at a saimin shop in Hilo many years back (don’t remember the name), my eyes were sweating and I was wiping my nose when the waitress came by. She asked how the saimin was and I replied “great”. She said “yeah, you know it’s good when the nose starts running” Those of you who’ve experienced it know what I’m talking about.
“except for the salt and fat” – check that label, HUGE amounts of fat- to manufacture those they DEEP FRY the noodles, that makes them easy to reconstitute. There are lots of dried bean based soups that have better nutrition, a lot less (like NO) fat and better flavor.
No I’m a food snob now. I only eat fresh (and expensive).
Yeah S&S. People always thinks its strange that you can get Saimin at McDonald’s in Hawaii. You can even get it at a concession stand at a rodeo (unless they run out). Makes me a little homesick…kj
