According to two guys on the internet who i think got it from Google’s AI.
First, can you guess who’s on the list before scrolling to the next comment?
Second, who do you think doesn’t belong on it, and who do you think is missing?
For the purposes of this question, lets assume that the bands included are “what they mean by rock band.” There are no solo acts, and two or three of the bands might not really be considered rock, but are sorta close.
Thinking about this and noticing according to the list there hasn’t been a top 10 band in almost 30 years. I think I’d put Radiohead on the list ahead of some of those bands. Although I guess they are only marginally more recent than Nirvana or Guns N Roses.
Rolling Stone at #6, while not a fan myself, they should top 3. AC/DC should sit at #4.
Metallica belongs in the bottom 5 for sure, but Nirvana and G-n-R? No way.
Without knowing the criteria for “Top” I can’t really hazard a guess for the rest of the bottom 5. But there are some NWOBHM like Iron Maiden I would say fit given their longevity and stadium sellout capacity to this day.
Id say nirvana and GnR are pretty solidly rock bands, especially GnR. I would consider grunge a sub genre within rock. To me, metal seems like it’s own distinct thing.
Top 10 by what measure? Would have guessed that 1,2,3,4,6 being on the list. It’s really a personal taste contest after that. I don’t like ACDC but can see them being there.
The problem with the Eagles is they are really a country band that got mainstream exposure. Rock they are not.
Where is Fleetwood Mac? They are still being played, covered, etc. We can’t do any gig without 2 or 3 of their songs either being specifically requested, or asked for on the fly. Hell, lately we have just put them in the rotation.
