Tom Demerly: Fastest Wetsuit Results

Tom,

I currently have an Ironman Stealth that is about 4 years old and have lost a few pounds and may be in the market for a new one. You talked about doing some wetsuit comparisons when you did IM NZ. What were the results?

What areother triathletes thinking/experience with the new wetsuits -goods and others of paritcular brands?

P.S. Tom, sent you an email about a potential customer today. Don’t know if you are still having problems with your email, so I thought I would give you a heads up.

Hi letter,

I got your e-mail! I just finished a tough ride so I am taking a break, then grabbing some food and then over to our web administrators office to paint and lay carpet in the new building. I’ll get back with my e-mail in the morning.

I used an Orca P-Flex in NZ and it was excellent. Very warm. I have since acquired a new QR Superfull and am getting an Aquaman Metal Cell. Over the course of a week I’m going to take them to the pool with an HRM and do some 500 yard TT’s to see which is fastest. I’ll let you guys know the results.

Hey, thanks for the thread. Miss one day and miss out on all the good info! Teach me to have a life.

Tom,

Why not include the Top-of-the-line Ironman Stealth in your study or are the others out of its leauge?

Dave from VA

you mean Walton. Craig Watson is a pretty good athlete but not the swimmer Waldo is.

Do you mean Mark Watson from NZ?

He’s resonably good on the bike and run (had a bad day at IMNZ this year) and while he’s faster than me in the water, he’s certainly no “swimmer”

He also runs a great series of Tri Camps in NZ (Hard Yards in Heaven) with Hamish Carter of ITU (booo hissss) fame. They operate a great setup for BOPers like me, through to MOPers and Kona qualifiers, right up to several local hot pros that we had at camp, including the incredibly funny, Olympic qualifer, Nathan Richmond. (see their hardyardsinheaven website)

Mark can bike, run and operate a great camp, but he has some room to improve in the swim (evn in his orca suit) Oh yeah, he’s sorta reddish blonde hair.
