Toddler Bike Helmet

Do they make helmets for kids 1-2 years old? The smallest size I could find was Toddler 3+years. My son is only 13 months, and all though he has a big head I am not sure this is going to fit him

Thanks
Jeff S.

Our two kids are pretty “big headed” at 19 months and 3 1/2. They’ve both been wearing Trek helmets (I’ll confirm when I get home) since they were around one. Just went to the LBS and they had them.

Check out the BMX / skateboard helmets. Much better fit for small kids and they stay in place. I fould ones that fit at Target of all places when my kids were that young.

I found an infant size made by Giro at my LBS. It was 12+ months I believe.

Yes, this is a great point and I agree. The BMX/Skateboard helmets cover more of the head in front, on the side, and behind. I still have my 9 year old in one, though he is asking for a new, “cool” bike helmet.

There are infant helmets. Usually thick with lots of styrofoam. Smallest I saw was Fisher Price.

I have the Giro, it is pink with bunnies.

Not for me, it’s my daughter’s. It seems pretty comfy with the curved chin clasp and all.

We got one at Walmart, of all places, for our boys when they were that age. Couldn’t get from LBS. Go figure, not a huge demand or something

Congrats on doing the right thing. Too many morons not teaching their kids early. We won’t ride with DW’s friends anymore because the entire family doesn’t wear helmets and it then gets our boys questioning the practice. I fully plan on riding this no helmet-no ride rule until they are long enough to intentionally disobey  (2 boys… ya know it’ll happen)

Thanks for all the info everyone, I bought the 3+ years at Meijer, but after all the responses I will keep looking for a smaller one.

Believe it or not, Walmart has some nice helmets for kids. I was able to get one for my daughter even before she was 1.
