Tire size (and rec's) for hybrid bike

I have a hybrid, ride-around-town bike that needs new tires. The wheel is marked: 700C PX-45. The tire I am removing is labeled 700c x 37c. I’d like to get the new tires online, so I need to make sure I’m ordering the right size.

Also, any recommendations on tires? I am looking for something that does well on the potholes, and could make it through some slush/snow.

700c tires with a width in the 35-37mm (or 1-1/8") range. “700c” is the diameter, and 35-40mm is the width. You want nice fat tires on that type bike.

There was a cheaper non- continental tire , gator something in a 37 they seemed tuff. Check here its a bit pricey

Thanks guys. Any other specific tire rec’s out there?

I don’t think it matters too much, most tires in the category you are looking at will be pretty durable and have good puncture resistance. None of them will be fast.

You can go anywhere from a 700x32c and up. Any narrower than a 32c tire “may” not work with your rims, it depends on exactly how wide the rims are. in a 32c width you can also get some nice cyclocross tires that will be a bit better in snow & slush conditions, but perhaps not quite as smooth on pavement because of the knobbies.

Look at Michelin and Continental as the premier brands, but there are others out there that are pretty good.

Thanks guys. Any other specific tire rec’s out there?
I just got new tires for my city bike, Specialized Crossroads. They were $17 each. I ride around town and on the occasional fire road with my kids, usually pulling a trailer or tandem attachment. Specialized has a $35 tire in the Armadillo line that would be a good choice if you ride somewhere with a high chance of flats.
