Timex S&D Wonkiness

Got a Timex S&D over the winter, which works great (though the GPS doesn’t like being in the cold below -20C).

Using only the HRM function last weekend while riding…sitting up, riding the hoods – no prob, gets my accurate HR. But going into the aero position, it starts reading number that are impossible (like 240 BPM…should have been closer to 135). I had no other electronics on me, my bike computer is wired (and never wreaked havoc on my old Timex HRM), I wasn’t riding with anyone, I stopped and restarted it several times, and the chest strap was firmly secured. It happened conitnuously over a ride of 3 hours.

Any insight?

Call Timex. I had some problems with my S&D unit last year and they were surprisingly helpful in solving my problem.

I’ve had the Timex Bodylink system for over a year and never had that problem. Even in groups, the Timex seems to be on a different frequency than the Polar systems. Only problem I had was it went blank and rezeroed several times but that has somehow gone away and never had any problems. I second the suggestion to check with Timex. They were very helpful when I first got the Bodylink and could not figure out why I couldn’t get the GPS to work when I had already started the system with the heart rate monitor on. I actually got a live person and not some recorded message.

Good luck.

I having been having the same problem with mine as well!

I put in a thread on that a month or so ago: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=354586;search_string=search_string;#354586

There are some suggestions in there that I haven’t tried yet, most notibly possible interference with computer magnet. I was thinking it could be a distance issue b/w strap and watch when stretched out into aero… I dunno

Let me know if you figure it out. Calling Timex is a good idea.
