Hi
Have a Timex ironman watch that has really sensitive buttons , not that old, that will push in even when doing tumble turns in the pool.
This is my second Timex that is doing this.
I also have a Garmin 910 but like the Timex as I wear it as an every day watch.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can it be fixed?
Can anyone suggest another type of watch that has the same simple functions as the Timex that I could also use as a everyday watch

I’ve had several Ironman watches and never had this issue. Possibly talk to Timex about a warranty replacement.
Timex responded pretty well to my own complaint on this site. Contact them, and try to send it in. They may or may not try and charge you for repairs/replacement, but I was otherwise happy with their response.

can you elaborate on what you mean here by “really sensitive buttons”??? Also, do you use your Timex in the pool, i.e. do you push the buttons while in the water???
Hi
No dont press buttons under water.
Really sensitive means even if I take watch off and sit it on its side the button will depress.

I have worn the Timex Ironman since the 80’s. Most likely you have a malfunction caused by use, misuse, or abuse. Buy another for $50 and if it lasts for five years then anything beyond that point is icing on the cake.

Hmmm, well, I’ve kinda, sorta had that same problem but with my watch it was more like the watch would just at random record a lap, i.e say I’m swimming 10 x 400 m, the first 4 were recorded normally but then on #5 the watch records it in 3 segments which cumulatively add up to the split, then the watch goes back to working OK. Fortunately, I have a 50-lap watch and hence I was able to get all my splits w/o ever using up all 50 laps. Obv, I do indeed press the lap button and the stop button underwater, although apparently according to the fine print in the “how to” directions for the watch you’re not supposed to. Anyway, my problem kind of resolved itself after I just stopped using the watch in the pool for about a week, and went back to using just the pace clock, as I used to do back in my pre-tri days when I was “just a swimmer”. This week off seemed to dry the watch out and since I started wearing it in the pool again, about maybe 4 months ago now, it has been working fine. I do end up buying a new Timex every 12-18 months though, as eventually the waterproofness just disappears, but then again I swim more than most tri-people. Anyway, I’ve had about 20 or so Timex iron watches, dating back to 1986, and on the whole they have served me very well:)
