Timex GPS Watch at campmor for $99.97

This sounds like it may be a good deal.
Has anybody seen it for a lower price elsewhere? What is the lowest price you’ve seen for the Garmin Forerunner?

The price looks great… anyone out there use this?

I use the Bodylink setup from Timex, essentially the same thing but links HR also. It’s useful to have all that data nicely packaged, but it can get bothersome to have the GPS on for long runs.

I have this same model, bought re-furbished off Ebay for $30. Generally I’ve been pleased with it, althought it is far from perfect.

My main beef is the lack of receiver strength. Loses signal when cloudy etc. This problem is mitigated by using freshly charge NiCad batteries before each and every use.

Consistency in accuracy isn’t that bad, around .25mi off the same route over multiple runs.

So, pretty happy generally, but if you’re a stickler, at this price I’d likely put the $ towards a higher end unit, like a Garmin 301 or 401.

Hope that helps…T

I have the previous version of that watch. It does what it is supposed to, but I think that a well planned route, some rudimentary math skills, and a regular watch can save you a hundred bucks.

Garmin 201’s on ebay are only $10-15 more with buy it now and they do not need to have a seperate thing strapped to your arm. Also you recharge it on a charger (much like a cell phone) and not have to worry about going through batteries at a fast clip.

So what can I get that will track, speed (location vs time) and elevation and send to a pc so I can track bike trips with elevation changes? and speed on those changes?

good deal but not great. That’s a first gen Timex GPS and the reciever is a lot larger than the current models and eats batteries. Newer watches are nicer as well. Basically if you don’t mind carrying the larger GPS unit and buying batteries in bulk at Costco, go for it.

Thanks! I suspected there was a reason like this for the big price drop. I think I’ll pass on the Timex.
