Timeoff at the end of your season?

Do you take time off at the end of your season?? How much?? How much is too much and how much is not enough??

I’m usually kinda burnt out after the fall IM. I ride a bit for the next week or two to make my legs recover, sometimes do a Turkey Trot or New Years run and a few more short runs…then start up again in January. But I’m a lazy bum.

I thought I was going to after my 1/2IM last Saturday. Leading up to it I couldn’t wait to take a break after the race, but the race got me fired up and motivated, so now I’m just taking it easy for this week and plan to start a run focus for a few months.

Last year I didn’t swim or bike in the Fall. That worked okay. I was fresh for both come spring, but I fret thinking what I could have gained had I done at least 2 w/o per week in each.

Thinking about doing Ralph’s, which is only 5 months away. Not a lot of time to rest.

I take the time of between Thanksgiving (US) and New Years. Usually only lifting weights and doing whatever I want. No planned workouts but lifting and catching up on house maintanance.

It is important to take a break, otherwise most end up getting burned out or injured in the middle of the next season.
