I am looking for specific time trial training for a max of 40Km.
Training peaks has some plans https://home.trainingpeaks.com/...cycling/timetrialing are the plans on TP good plans or just basic things?
because it is some money for just a plan.
I use Trainerroad. They have a sustained power build, and a 40k TT specialization program (both 8 weeks each). I used workouts from each last year into my regular training (more rolling road race/crit racing) and it made a world of difference in improving my TT abilities.
I will take al look at trainerroad. i tought trainerroad is a indoor training tool ?
They also have some workout plans that you have access to for free when you are a paid subscriber. You could always look at the workout plan and do some of the workouts outdoors if you were able to.
Personally I think if you’re going to be looking into a pre-built plan and can find the time then I’d recommend reading a book such as Friel’s triathlete or cyclist bible. He will walk you through how to build your own training plan. This takes more effort and time than buying or using a cookie cutter plan but personally I find much more value in my training plan than one I could buy off the shelf. I’d be hard pressed to find a plan that was at my desired workload amount and specifically addressed the areas I wanted to work on. Just something to consider, though I realize many people would rather just follow a pre-built plan.
My 2 cents: I race around 40k/hr in Olympics distance (58 yrs old). My main training plans includes lots of interval training. E.g. 4 or 5 x 5K hard at average race pace goal with 3 or 4 K easy spinning in between. Work up in distance to the 5K if you’re new to this. Play with distances 5x 3 K, 4x6K, 10x1K etc . Another favorite after 8 K warm up is 10K hard, 5K easy, 7K hard/4E, 5K/3K, 4K/2K, 2K/ 1 K, 10 K cool down. Towards races I throw in 2x 8 or 10 K at race pace. Early season (jan) 80 or 90 K with 4x 10K fast in the tri bars, with 8 K easy recovery upright. Hope it helps, have fun

wut.
In retrospect, yeah, that doesn’t make sense. I was thinking about trainingpeaks where you can be a paid subscriber to premium but you still need to pay for the training plans; they are not free. Whereas in TrainerRoad if you are a subscriber, they are available at no additional cost. Either way, you’re paying for it.
