I cannot find the thread so lets start it up again, since we have a new era of bikes these days.
Rim brake trek madone, 60-88 karbon speed wheels, casco roadie helmet with visor
40.08 km/h - 277w - 20k(ish) - 29:46
excuses: 44cm wide bars (turning brake levers in though did help), but I am not going to fork over $ to make them smaller. Should i put a rubber band to hold my elbows together?
That’s a road bike. It’s a nice road bike position.

40km/h on 277 is very roughly a .29ish CDA
Tested a few guys, much narrower elbows, 40cm bars, skinsuit in the .24ish range when they get their head in place.
I’d definitely work on the elbows. You can also get 38cm bars for like, $60, which is a pretty fantastic $/CdA savings I’d think
they are integrated bar/stem on these bikes, checked for smaller bars is around $300 if I want to retain that set up
Man, i hate integrated bars. Seems more often than not they end up making people slower when you consider the body/bike as a system
Why not get off the hoods and get on the drops
Look at circa 1984 triathletes
We all had to train to be able to stay that way. The tricep pain was real lol
I’m pretty sure the drops will be a lot more aero than the hoods like you’re doing. Inwould have been in the drops the entire way and that doesn’t require any special training really for a 30 min ride.
The hoods position he is in with parallel forearms is a faster position than being in the drops
UCI banned road bike position aerodynamics.

Per usual we killed our selves to be in positions we now find out were slower
lol
Thanks
