Time to wash my running cap

…So I happened to look at the garment tag
100% Polyester
Do Not Wash
Do Not Bleach
Do Not Iron
Dry Clean Only

I’ve never seen the warning to not wash, especially a 100% polyester cap.

your running hat? just rinse it/wash it in the sink and let dry. or buy a new one?

The top rack in the dishwasher is great to wash running caps…

Forget what the tag reads, wash that stinky thing and hang to dry. There is nothing worse than wearing stinky hats and socks because the stench lingers forever.

I’ve thrown my hats and visors into the washer with my running/cycling clothes. Then hang dry and have never had one fall apart.

I have no plans to follow the label, certainly not dry clean!

That’s funny. I wonder what they think will happen to it - it won’t look as pretty? I’d email the company and tell them to pull their head out.

I wash mine in cold water and hang out to dry. Just like my cycling clothes.
The worst that can happen is that you ruin it and need to spend $20 for new one (Or enter a WTC race - they give them away for “free”).

…only if you finish! What you get for your exhorbitant entry fee is a bland pre- and post-race meal, all the gels and drinks and chicken soup you could want on your trip, and, if you finish, a medal, shirt and hat.

Seriously, though, I throw my 2008 finisher hat in with the running clothesinto the washer and air dry. It’s in great shape. My old stand-by. The dry-clean only warning is hogwash. Maybe if you feel a bit worried about it, you can wash it in Woolite.

Ditto. I throw all my caps in the washer and hang them to dry. Never had any problems with it at all.

One of my friends uses the top rack of the dishwasher, but I’m not sure I want to get funk on my dishes.

The only issue would be with the brim. If it’s plastic then just make sure not to put it in the dryer. If it’s cardboard, just make sure to re-form it before letting it dry (oh, and replace it with one with a plastic brim  ).
