Time for a new mattress - Any suggestions?

Hi All,
I’ve been looking for a new mattress for a while. The number of choices are crazy! I thought I’d see if and STers have experience.

Currently I am looking at: (in no particular order) King size

  1. Saatva - gets pretty high ratings and they will deliver and take my old mattress away.
  2. Eight Pod - this thing looks a bit crazy but i tend to be a bit of a hot sleeper so a cooling machine seems like a good idea. Pretty expensive and no setup/take away service.
  3. Casper - not sure if the wave or the basic one is better. There is a store close to my house but it’s obviously closed.
  4. BEAR - they have a few different options that are geared towards athletes.
  5. Purple
  6. I have a simmons currently and it would be easy just to replace. All of the others require a new base because I have box springs now.

Any other options that you like?

Thanks!

We bought a really nice Sealy for $1,200 USD over a year ago. It’s been excellent. This is such an individual purchase that advising anyone is like throwing darts in the wind. Go lay on several with your SO and do it more than once. It’s an important decision and it needs to be done on site.

Get the Ironman T3 mattress.

Purple* is aaaaaaamazing!!! We got the thicker version and it is absolutely incredible. Had it for about 1 year now and have slept better than ever before.

Get the Ironman T3 mattress.

You beat me to it … who wouldn’t want a bit more steel in the bedroom

same. only thing is that my wife finds it cold due to the air flow from the textured top. i like that since i run hot. it feels soft when you first lie down but actually pretty firm underneath that first layer.

Is there any question? You need a Pure Energy Mattress with Ironman Sleep Technology. A HTFU triathlete getting anything different is just plain foolish. Although the T3 mattress is forgivable, I guess.

I think the BEAR mattress has the “cellitex” too. I that the part that makes it amazing?

ok and how about us simps that live in the States? Any purchase option? I am also really looking for something that comes here. Although I’m usually not concerned about social distancing in a mattress store

Tuft & Needle. We have one in the guest room and really like it. IIRC they do 100-night trial and if you don’t like it you just donate it to a local charity with proof and they refund you.

A couple of years ago we were in the same boat.

This will sound weird, but when we discussed it, we really liked our stays at the Hampton Inn.

So, we did a Google search figuring that they sell their mattresses and bought one. The cost was actually very good. They shipped it to us.

We love it.

If you’ve stayed at a hotel on any regular basis, you may have a favorite bed that when you stay there you just love it. If so, do a Google search and I bet you can find it.

I don’t know how many mattresses we’ve bought from the snake oil salespeople at big box and specialty stores, almost every one of them a disappointment. Last in store purchase was a mid-range ($1200) Sealy from some local mattress store. A couple of years later it was misshapen and our backs hurt. I weigh 135 lbs FFS. Got a Saativa. Now two years and perfect. I am NEVER going back to the traditional model of mattress purchase. Those dinosaurs ought to be extinct soon, anyway - the new approach ought to eat their lunch.

yeah, they are definitely getting their lunch eaten! I’ve been leaning towards a Saatva partially because they will take my old one away. I live in a condo on the 4th floor. Although i guess i could chuck my old one off the balcony. Seems everyone has a 100 day trial now. Maybe i could try 6 different ones and sleep on a free mattress for the next 2 years. I’ve stayed at lots of hotels (lots of work travel up to now). My favorite has probably been Westin.

I’ll add anothertr to the list. https://www.avocadogreenmattress.com
Recently went thru the same ordeal…1,000,001 choices and felt like it was a coin flip most of the time. zWent with Avacado and have been pleased with the decision.

We are looking too - anyone tried SleepOvation?

I have a Leesa and Casper. It is the original Casper when there used to be just one option.

I’d recommend both brands, maybe slightly favoring Casper. It’s a different feel - both are unique. You can send it back if you don’t like it.

I definitely feel like I get exceptional recovery and zzz’s from them.

We have two Leesas and really like them. Bought one for our vacation home because, in part, it would be really easy to transport. We liked it so much we bought one to replace the master at home a year later.

I clicked the link and had a laugh thinking this was satire, but now I’m not sure if this is real or not?
