For you Spinergy riders out there (gary?)
What is the rim depth of the tilium including braking surface? The site mentions a 45mm carbon rim, but it appears to have an aluminum braking surface, this isn’t included is it?
Also, how well does the aluminum meet the carbon? Is it smooth and flush like a zipp? (so if you run your hand over it you can’t tell where it starts and stops) or is it a little more pronounced?
Finally, what is the rim width? What tire width works best?
I’m not sold on Spinergy yet, but I’m getting closer.
(a discount might sway me…hint…hint…) ah…never mind. Thanks in advance.
Don’t have the wheels in front of me, so I can’t help you with measurements, but I do have this pic:
And this one…
I’m running a 700x23 Hutchinson Carbon Comp, no problems so far (though I have only put 20 miles on them). If you need any other angles/close-ups, let me know. Good luck.
You can get them for 25% off at from Gary, check the classified thread. I’m very interested but have a question about the difference between the SS and PBO spokes. Basically, which is faster? The SS seems like it might be more areo but weigh alittle more. Are the hubs of different quality? Over the long run are the SS easier to maintain, repair and keep true? Aside from a more comfortable ride why get the PBO spokes?
Thanks,
