Tights... under bibshorts or over them?

I alternate between wearing my tights (which have no pad) under and over my bibshorts and I was curious as to what others did and why?

It seems that if your tights don’t have a pad, you would want the tights over the shorts so that the pad in the shorts is where it belongs… on you.

All the pros, however, wear their tights under their bibshorts.

What do y’all think?

I would guess that you would wear them over your shorts for the same reasons that you mentioned, as long as they don’t slide around. Once I got a pair of leg warmers though, I have never worn tights again.

Over. Keep that chamois where it belongs.

We are going ice biking tonight. And I am going to to put my tights over. And wind pants over top of everthing . I am trying out new shoe thermal insoles. The feet get cold and booties get riped by the studs (screws).

I always wear them OVER the bib for the reason you mention, you want the pad from the bib against the skin to absorb moisture and prevent chafing.

Are the pros wearing them under or just using leg warmers?

A

I prefer leg warmers over tights (thats wat the pros are using also). Wear them under your shorts so they wont move when pedaling. They are much more versatile than tights: you can wear them during the warm up for example and slide them down anytime you like.

If I catch you with your tights on under your shorts I’m going to brand “Fred” on your forehead and make you grow a beard and ride a recumbent.

Next thing I know, you’ll be wearing underwear under your shorts…sheesh.

Amen.Leg warmers are great but somtimes you need to double wrap your package.

Just say no to Bunhuggers under bikeshorts.Boxers are O.K.

you obviously have never mt. biked with tights and shorts…you wear the tights under the shorts or else you will catch your shorts when going behind the seat or getting out of the saddle to descend steeper pitches…

Cullen, you don’t wear underwear with cycle shorts, that’s why chamois cream exists!!! Bless.

The amen was to your previous post. When I see people wearing underwear with there bike shorts I want to give them a slap and a wedgie. Not necessarily in that order.

You gotta provide the slap, I think they get the wedgie for themselves! But, Cullen you got to check the posters monikers, the other Julian is, I’m pretty certain, Probably ejoying better weather than me.

I used to ride w/ a friend who wore tightey whitey’s under his tri-shorts. What’s up with that?

I was going to say that but then read that Fred remark . My tights won’t fit over the bike shorts, and if they did I think they would catch on my seat as I slid off the back stood etc.

If you can find bib tights with a chamois then you’re all set.

Good point about the mountain biking. I’ve made that mistake.

I guess there is a Fred Exemption available for mtn bikers wearing tights under shorts.

over. i think you the pros you mention are wearing leg warmers, which most people put under their bibs.
