Tightness in shoulders/neck in T1 Wetsuit

Tried the T1 for the first time tonight in a pool. First time for any wetsuit actually. The fit feels fine as most describe here, a little snug/tightness to breathe when on land. In water the fit feels great. The lower bib john fits great, no issues there.

I have a full sleeve top w/ zipper. I don’t know if its because I didn’t have it seated correctly, but I experienced a tightness around the neck/shoulders that hampered my head position as my arms recovered thru the air, it tugged on my neckline. This obviously also tugged at my shoulders a bit to fatigued them. A little dismayed because this was a strong point of the suit? Probably user error.

I followed the instructions per the DeSoto website and those that came with the wetsuit. Anyone experience this the first time and how was it remidied? Also seeing if those who experienced this ultimately returned it due to not ever getting it to fit right… I’ll do another test run later this week.

I am pretty lean with broad shoulders/lats, though other posters like slowdchowder(sp) mentioned they have large lats and have no fit probs.

Although did do a good ride earlier which may have fatigued my shoulders a bit more than I’m used to and having the wetsuit magnified it?

Thanks.

Definitely trying pulling the wetsuit arms higher up on your next swim. If the arms are on correctly there shouldn’t really be any noticeble pulling on your shoulders. That may be why you are feeling it in your neck? While standing you should be able to raise your hands straight up above your head with no discomfort from the wetsuit…

Make sure you pull the bibs up as far as possible. I’ve found that makes a big difference in how my shoulders feel. If the straps are too taut, my shoulders blow in a few minutes, but if I pull them up farther I’m good to go.

Great suggestions, I’ll give it them a try.
