I’ve seen 2 competing products for leg ‘rolling’
I’ve briefly tried the original stick and the travel stick (ther are 9-10 other models).
The travel model seems too flexible for me. the ‘original’ is a little long for travel.
Of the ‘sticks’ the 'Sprinter Stick" looks to be the best all around.
I saw something called the 'Tiger tail."
Anyone tried any of these, for any length of time?
What are your thoughts about a stick in general and which?
“The Stick” - the medium length one…not sure what the official name is. Use it daily and love it.
What color (colour?) are the handles?
I’ve tried the Stick and find a foam roller superior. You can get them in short 1 foot dimensions so they don’t take up space at home.
Handles are blue. I like the foam roller too…easier to roll the IT Band and hamstrings. Stick is good for calves, quads and ass.
The blue is the standard model. It felt good compared to the yellow, just harder to pack, is my thought.
the tiger tail looks like a cross between the stick and a compact foam roller.
What do you use your foam roller for and what sizes?
Dick
Stacy got the yellow stick several years ago for her ITB. This year she got a foam roller and likes it much better…but it’s three feet long.
Make sure you get the right foam roller they make all kinds. You want to get the blue colored EVA High Density(stiff foam)…(not the white packing foam crap) it shrinks! You can get the blue ones at www.powersystems.com they are pricy but worth it. I roll my IT band on it religiously and use for quads too. It cured IT band syndrome. I tried the stick after a race today and it felt great too. I am going to buy the stick next.
Generally the shorter the stiffer. But try this, a bit painful, but great. Use a baseball to roll out your back/shoulders and a softball for your entire leg and glutes. Baseball may work better on calf.
I’ve seen a lot of squashed white foam rollers over the years.
The high density one looks better.
BTW it’s www.power-systems.com
Definitely a cheaper alternative. Gotta give that one a try.
i use ‘the dowel.’
it’s just a normal dowel, but i gave it a nickname a while ago. it does quite well.
other people have good results with ‘the rolling pin.’
The spousal unit objects to my use of ‘the rolling pin.’
