Thumbnail review: Selle Italia SLR T1 tri-specific saddle

I’ve ridden the new Selle Italia SLR T1 for a short time and here are a couple comments for those who may be considering one:

  1. Pretty darn comfortable for me in the aero position. As good as any currently available tri saddle but (IMO) slighty better than the Azoto.

  2. Seems pretty light. Didn’t weigh it though. -Seems lighter than a lot of other saddles.

  3. Some weird, flaky, leather black stuff comes off the saddle when you ride it in wet clothes (like after a swim). Doesn’t bother me but may cause customers to freak.

  4. The nose is mega-wide. May be no good for little riders under 120 pounds- their legs may be too close together.

How does it differ from the standard SLR, Tom?

Is it a feasible IM alternative to the fisik Ariane(sp)?

Did you get my PM?

More to the point, is it better than your current Arrione? Have you tried the Arione Tri? How do they compare?

I have been using a borrowed SLR )courtesy of Dr.'Dre) is the rear closer to that, or the SLR XP? I have to tip the SLR down about 4-5 degrees for aero, which brings the nose down to far when I ‘hump’ it up over a roller, and thought a little extra on the nose might correct that. What say you?

Bump!

Tom D, are you out there?

How’bout Slowman, have you tried it, or the Arrione Tri? What did YOU think?

Tom,

How did you like the SLR T1 compared to your Airone?

I had a chance to fondle one at the Fairlee Great Tri. (Fit Werks had one at thier booth.)

VERY nice looking saddle and seemed very light…I want one…and only $110.00. Tim

A guy on Ebay is selling a bunch of these new for $79.99.
