Thomas Weisel managed assets for Verbruggen

This is a very interesting new twist.

I read this today in the journal. What an insane story, if not really that surprising.

I wonder what kind of consequences Weisel could be facing… he has no titles. Having a conflict of interest with the UCI is not illegal as far as I know… Is there a bribery or conspiracy type charge that is relevant here? Or is it just his already ruined legacy in cycling?

Edit: I guess in Floyd’s whistleblower lawsuit he could be found guilty of defrauding the government.

i think the risk would be getting tied in with the lawsuits, because maybe then some of his (presumably considerable) assets might be up for grabs, too.

any lawyers in the room?

that said, he’s a private citizen. it’s verbruggen who looks positively awful here.

To be fair, he had money invested with Och who was with a different money manager to begin with, then Och brought the account with him when he moved over to Weisel’s firm. Anybody with a brain would have ended the financial relationship there, but no one is accusing these guys of being too smart.

I’ve been waiting for this for a while. It’s all starting to clear up. That Lance-World wiring diagram posted on here a while ago is starting to look very prescient.

Ochowicz - Poster child of Omerta

Prescient may not be the right word. A lot of what is being talked about in the main stream press the last few months was there for anyone to see since the early years. Without this being direct at you, it generally seems that people are just catching on, or perhaps … just recently took the blinders off

I don’t think anyone in the early years would have said that this whole thing, all 7 tours, Livestrong, all of it, was a completely orchestrated thing between Weisel and Verbruggen.

But, maybe it was. And when I saw that diagram, that’s what I saw. OTOH, there are those on Twitter (maybe you too) who are in the know and they say that we’re STILL at the tip of the iceberg.

If there’s something huge out there, the only thing that I could think of that would be worthy of said iceberg is a Nike funded, Weisel brokered, UCI orchestrated pro-wrestling-style Lance wins 7 tours mythology with a cancer shield in Livestrong to hide behind.

Because that’s how I would do it.
