This Trump post should trump all my other Trump posts

First read. Then shake head. Then roll eyes. Then let’s discuss.

San Fran, arguably the most liberal city in the country which is in California, the most liberal state in the country, with the SF Chronicle being one of the most liberal rags rants about the Paris climate accord and how Trump might do something against clean energy? Riveting.

I stopped reading after this in the first paragraph: “Thirty-one years later, President Trump has committed a more consequential mistake by rejecting the Paris climate accord.”

Wait a minute. I thought diamonds were trump tonight?

San Fran, arguably the most liberal city in the country which is in California, the most liberal state in the country, has an article in the San Francisco Chronicle?

I stopped reading after this in the first paragraph: “Thirty-one years later, President Trump has committed a more consequential mistake by rejecting the Paris climate accord.”

I stopped at " the price of solar panels has fallen by 99 percent"…my boss just put in solar panels on his house. Even with the tax break he has a 15 year note at $140/month… If that is 1% of what it was back in Reagan’s years, then I think I will continue to wait until it comes down further.

Well maybe you should have read this paragraph. Lesson #1 - read the whole article.

**"U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry recently signaled that the Trump administration may soon seek to undo all state and local renewable energy policies across the country on grounds that clean technologies such as wind and solar power pose a threat to grid reliability and, therefore, jeopardize national security. " **

Going back to Regan taking down the solar panels, and this administration, it should seem obvious that that Pubs have no concept of science or the future and are willing to let other countries take the lead while Trump promotes “job growth” in the coal industry despite the fact it ain’t gonna happen due to automation.

Big oil, big coal have the Pubs in their pocket while Trump supports his 2% friends under the guise of the blue collar working man’s hero of the rust belt despite the jobs in these sectors aren’t coming ever back.

Yet at the same time Trump was talking about building a wall across the Mexican border out of solar panels. If there is any one thing to say about your prez, he’s totally inconsistent.

Yawn…

So you and SF Gate have your panties in a wad because of a Bloomberg article that notes,

(1) Rick Perry wanted to stay in Paris Treaty

(2) “Perry, who oversaw a record expansion of wind power during his tenure as Texas governor, said clean energy had an important future in the U.S.”

and

(3) About the grid, Perry says Grid is matter of National Security and regarding renewables and grid says, "“That’s a conversation that will occur over the next few years,” Perry said. “There may be issues that are so important that the federal government can intervene.”

OK, I suppose that would be enough for chicken little.

Want to have an intelligent debate about environmental policy, check out the Federal Register and see what the EPA has been up to. But that stuff is both real and over the head of SF Gate readers.

$25,000 financed, just curious what are the expected savings over regular electricity? Also, what’s the expected lifespan of the batteries assuming they’re cared for correctly?

I’ve got an aunt and uncle that work for EPA in dallas, talk about a batshit crazy organization staffed by batshittier crazy people. to listen to these two talk the EPA is the second coming of Christ. the thing that spools me up is the hyprocracy of these two that are supposed to be representing, per them, the values of the EPA. they preach like their Fauxchauntous, smaller carbon footprint, save the world, save the children. but live like DiCraprio, expensive vacations, spending money that could be spent on saving some animal or kid. oh wait, that’s what my money is for.

Want to have an intelligent debate about environmental policy…

Sure, let’s start with addressing some of these Trump initiatives below. Let me know which you support and which you oppose and why:

14 February Trump signs a bill repealing an anti-corruption rule that required energy companies to disclose payments to foreign governments. The regulation was scrapped under the Congressional Review Act.

16 February The stream protection rule, which prevented mining companies dumping their waste into streams, is axed under the Congressional Review Act. Trump calls it a “terrible job-killing rule.”

28 February Trump instructs the EPA to rewrite the ‘waters of the United States’ rule, which expanded the definition of the Clean Water Act to protect the water supply for around 117 million Americans. Many farmers, real estate developers and golf course owners opposed the rule.

2 March On 1 March, governors and attorneys general from several Republican-led states write to Scott Pruitt to request the EPA stop collecting methane emissions data from around 15,000 oil and gas operations. A day later, Pruitt says he has decided to oblige “after hearing from industry”.

15 March Trump announces a review of vehicle fuel efficiency standards that are designed to push down greenhouse gases and other pollutants. More than a dozen car company chief executives asked the president to revisit an Obama-era decision to mandate improved fuel economy by 2025. Pruitt calls the standards “costly for automakers and the American people.”
28 March A sweeping executive order penned by Trump orders a rewrite of the EPA’s clean power plan, which was Obama’s centerpiece climate policy, an end to the moratorium on coal mining on public land and the removal of climate change as a consideration when approving federal projects.

29 March Pruitt denies a bid to halt the use of chlorpyrifos, a widely-used pesticide. The chemical has been linked to damage to the nervous system and last year EPA scientists said a ban was warranted. Household use of the chemical was phased out a decade ago but it is still used in farms across the US.

11 April A court grants an EPA request to delay the implementation of ozone pollution standards that were made stricter in 2015. The EPA intends to review the rules around ozone, which is created when sunlight reacts with pollutants from vehicles exhausts and other sources. Ozone can create smogs and can trigger a raft of health ailments, especially among children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems.

13 April The EPA pauses a regulation that curbs the dumping of toxic metals such as arsenic and mercury by power plants into public waterways. The Obama-era rule, set to commence in 2018, would’ve destroyed jobs, according to Pruitt.

27 April The EPA successfully convinces a US appeals court to halt a challenge by states and industry groups to an Obama administration rule aimed at reducing toxic emissions from power stations. Pruitt, in his previous role as attorney general of Oklahoma, had sued the EPA to stop the rule, which is known as MATS.
23 May A three-month pause is put on landfill methane rules so they EPA can “reconsider certain aspects” of the regulation. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and is emitted from rotting garbage in landfills, as well as other sources such as agriculture.

13 June The EPA announces plans for a two-year pause on regulations that would reduce emissions leaks from oil and gas operators. The regulator acknowledges that pollution from the leaks results in “disproportionate” harm to children but proposes to go ahead with the suspension of the rule anyway.

27 June The EPA, along with the US army, proposes to scrap the clean water rule. This would reverse an Obama-era move that expanded federal government protections to the drinking water of around a third of all Americans. Pruitt said the rollback will provide “regulatory certainty to our nation’s farmers and businesses.” The announcement didn’t reference public health.

San Fran, arguably the most liberal city in the country which is in California, the most liberal state in the country,

In 1995 spent a full year, back-packing around the world. Spent a lot of time in SE Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia Thailand), Nepal, India, East Africa etc . . When I would meet Americans, they almost always were from San Francisco with a handful from New York City. Met NO Americans from anywhere else in the U.S. I always wondered why?

You really need to find something better to spam this forum with. Everyone knows Trump is a buffoon. Not sure why you feel the need to post, daily, about everything that comes across your news feed on him but it sure is tiresome.

Because those countries are best known for their illicit sex trade? ; )

**Because those countries are best known for their illicit sex trade? ; ) **

I know you were joking, but unfortunately, and this IS a problem, many people think that, that is all that goes on in many of those countries.

It was like when I got back from that trip and I would say, I had been in Cambodia. More than a few people would ask, “Weren’t you worried. There is a war going on there”! I guess we had #FakeNews even back then!

Yeah, last summer my wife and kids spent a month in Thailand traveling from north to south. I couldn’t get away from work and almost everyone I told about the trip asked if I hired security to prevent the girls from being kidnapped and sold into the sex trade.

I certainly cannot defend my fellow Americans who do not travel abroad. My kids are teenagers (actually retueningtoday from a month in Europe) and have traveled extensively - Fiji, throughout Mexico, Ecuador, Galapagos, even up and down the east and west coasts of the US. My wife spent 3 weeks in China. I realize for many it is about economics but most just have no interest. It’s a shame.

Not sure what this has to do w San Francisco and solar panels but San Fran and NY residents tend to have more wealth relative to middle America soau be as much a factor as anything else. My kids’ friends also seem to travel a lot but they also tend to be from high net worth families. My sisters and their families rarely travel - my wife and I made a deal with all of our nieces and nephews: graduate college and we will send you anywhere you want to go all expenses paid. So far, three Euro trips and one to Japan which they would not have done otherwise.

A close friend in highschool was given a choice on graduation: a computer (a bigger deal in 1995) or a trip anywhere he wanted. The stupid fuck chose the computer.

Yeah, last summer my wife and kids spent a month in Thailand traveling from north to south. I couldn’t get away from work and almost everyone I told about the trip asked if I hired security to prevent the girls from being kidnapped and sold into the sex trade.

I spent 3 months bicycling in Thailand and a year living in Bangkok. Almost every single person who hears that warns me to watch out for the ladyboys, most assume I am looking or an underage prostitute and a good majority assume I am now into drugs. Of all the people who tell me that, not one has actually been to Thailand.

I got similar comments about my year in the Philippines and particularly with my Filipina wife and again, it’s always from people who have never been but “they have a friend who was there”.

** I couldn’t get away from work and almost everyone I told about the trip asked if I hired security to prevent the girls from being kidnapped and sold into the sex trade.**

Unfortunate. So now let’s turn that around, and see what the rest of the world thinks about the U.S. right now and what Donald Trump is doing. I know there are more than a few, here, and elsewhere who really don’t care, but perceptions, are powerful!

They realize he’s an idiot but they also realize the majority or Americans agree. Let’s face it, POTUS is a temporary affliction on us and virtually every country out there has or had poor leaders. My wife (returning today w the girls from a month in Europe) said not one single individual mentioned anything about the US or Trump. Life goes on and we will all survive this administration. Except CerveloGuy, but you know what I mean.

I never traveled out of California until my late twenties when I began traveling for work. Then I traveled nonstop for years throughout the US and Europe. I never gave it much thought and it took years to realize how my perspective changed completely. I only noticed when I believed my family and close friends were becoming more close minded only to realize they hadn’t changed a bit. Determined not to let that happen to my kids.
