This time of year....WHO HATES THE TRAINER?

You guys can all kiss my ass!

I’m a little busy right now. Can I get back to you on that?

Yeah, I get it, you’re on your trainer. Rub it in, rub it in.

I’m not on it enough to hate it. That’s my problem.

I just can’t do it any more!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!..

I’ve been off it since Dec (San Diego resident…). But after my less-than-satisfying performance today in a 20k TT against the “real” cyclists, I think I’ll get back on it.

I find that nothing lifts my power like trainer workouts.

I watch porn while using my trainer. Great motivator.

Just found the old film H.O.T.S. on DVD for $5 at Best Buy. Can’t wait to see it while riding.

Due to 20 degree weather and crappy roads (I’ve fallen on black ice and it wasn’t much fun) I spend most of my winter riding inside.

Did almost 6 hours yesterday on Computrainer doing IRONMAN NZ and GE laps while watching Armageddon, American Choppers, Sum of All Fears. Kept heart rate in the base range minus the hills which the 4% grades ones on the CT are a bear. On the shorter rides I use the Spinervals which work just fine and keep it entertaining.

Sorry mate, I’m not sure what you mean.

Did 2.5 hrs yesterday, around 22 C by the time I finished. It was great. Ate our BBQ dinner outside last night, downed a couple of beers.

But I feel your pain. ;

I bought a “new” one year old secondhand Tacx trainer this year that gives cadence, power, HRM and you can vary the incline. I thought this would make spinning indoors more “exciting”. WRONG.

I’m an outdoors person. Doing any exercise indoors sucks, especially riding the f*cking trainer.

I find the best motivator is either hard rock music or watching last years taped TDF again for the umpteenth time. Still sucks compared to being outdoors but does help a bit.

I need a movie screen in front of me like those guys in “The Triplets of Belleville.” The videos get boring after a few weeks. and that was just tthe 3 week rains we had her in So Cal. I can’t imagine what you guys up in the frozen north do. Get out the studded snow tires for your MTB and get some electric longjohns.

I don’t hate the trainer, but maybe that is because this is my trainer:

OK. I had some time to think about it. I’m not homophobic, and it is really not a hygiene thing–you just live too far away.

I’m with Gary on this one. I’ve been averaging 9.5 hours on the trainer a week and then ~4 hours outside on the road. It allows me to get in some seriously focused work without having to get all dressed up, get stuck at stoplights, etc… It also helps that Santa gave me a 40gb iPod for Xmas and my friends are lending me all of their TDF DVDs and more to help keep me entertained.

Gotta love training for Ironman Arizona while stuck up in a rainy Pacific Northwest winter.
