I just can’t do it any more!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!..
Get the 3 hour spinnerval dvd and an ipod…it turned me into the biker I am today.
I love the trainer, by the end of this month I will be on it about 8 hours a week (plus ~4 on the road).
Sun shining out/rain, doesn’t matter, perfect workout everytime. Love it.
Over 20,000 miles on my Kinetic, retiring it soon for an Kinetic AC Custom Pro (custom built with fluid, designed to my weight).

Have most all of the Spinervals…and a 40 gig iPod!!! …I am just being a complaining baby…I really could not race if I did not ride the trainer…I am just SICK of it!..
I’m tired of mine, too, but it’s been raining so much that I haven’t been able to get the road time in. It’s a nice alternative, and yes Coach Troy is a sadistic bastard, but it’ll all pay off later in the year.
4.5 hours on it today. 2hrs Tues. 2hrs Thurs.
When you get on, and you realize that the rest of the weeks efforts have taken their toll, and you have about 0 ME right off the bat, you know it is going to be a long day. I guess that means your traning plan is working.
I turned on HBO to pass the time today, but I find I don’t focus as hard on form or effort. Today I didn’t care–I just wanted it over.
4.5 hours!!! YIKES…I would have to smoke pot to do that!!!
Thats why I never do it, run 50-60 and swim alot during the winter and you’ll be fine come Feburay when it is time to ride oustide.
I just can’t do it any more!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!..
Most of the lions and tigers hate the trainer year-round ![]()

Trainer…who the hell ownes a trainer? never had one…don’t want one. The easy solution is to move to Florida! Ride outside 12 months of the year. I hate January and early February, I have to ride in long pants and sleeves, even use arm warmers sometimes…YUCH! BTW…70 today…light wind…45 miler was awesome in this weather!
Yeah…just ask Zigfreid…or was that Roy?

It was 60 here today…but I had to “Child Care” (not baby sit)…AACK!
The trick is to put the spinervals in the laptop on the table next to your TV and watch pimp my ride or reruns of jerry maguire, etc while following troy’s cues.
That is a great idea!
Monk. Serious question. What type of heart rate are you able to maintain for 4.5 hours? I guess the same question for all you “trainer warriors”. Is it hard to maintain 70-80% on a trainer?
You can’t just sit on a trainer for 4.5 hours and spin. You need to mix it up a bit, and that makes the time fly by. For example:
30:00 ez, h/r 115-130
4x8:00 on 10:00 h/r 130-150 (aerobic)
15:00 ez spin
15 :45 on the 1:00, alternate leg drill (this sucks, but it’s effective)
10x1:00 on 3:00 90% effor (anaerobic), then ez spin at 90-100rpm’s.
20:00 warm down.
Look at that, 2.5 hours on the trainer, and it flew! Mix it up a bit, don’t watch a movie, watch yourself! Set up a mirror, observe your efficiency and posture, while doing drills and tempo sets. Don’t just train, train right. Shit, I can’t believe I said that!
chris carmichael…jk
If you did smoke pot, then the 4.5hr ride would feel like 8 hours…including stops to the cabinet for chips;)
.
You’ve got the right idea.
No way to ride 4+ hrs without breaking it up with interval sets, etc. I like to crank the music for the last section of the workout. 90% efforts deserve some loud music to drown out my muscle’s screams. Music is the mental reward for grinding out the intervals/time.
I’ve tried watching movies but end up with a crap workout with little more than mega base benefits. Football games work if you hammer the commercials and spin easy for the game. Don’t try this with baseball…

One more tip:
Spring for one of the 12-hour TdF dvd’s. Sure, it’s 60 bucks, but it’s easy to lose track of time when you’re watching Lance wait for Jan in 2001, or Lance chase down Kloden in stage 17 this year, or Lance in the Prologue, or Lance giving a post-stage interview, or Lance walking into his trailer.
Also, listening to Phil and Paul is priceless.
Go to World Cycling Productions and get either 2004, or 2001 (with ‘the lookback’ ‘the wait’ and ‘the handshake at the line.’)
You guys can all kiss my ass!
I would kill to even have a trainer. Hell, I’ll take a fully functional bike. Any bike training I get in is at the gym on a spin bike staring at a brick wall. Mp3? If I dont have a trainer do you think I have the $ for an Mp3? FM radio my friends, and only one station comes in.
The ride is busted. Would be ok for a trainer, but I dont have one. New ride is still weeks away. And I think I’m goin to be a pro. HA! I’m pritty damn sure that pros ride a bike on occation.
And to top it off, I’ve had a temp of 103 for three days! I hate being sick. I havent done SHIT in a week.
OK, Im done. You dont really have to kiss my ass. I’m sorry about that. Frustrated man, just frustrated. You fuckers be happy you CAN ride and I’ll be happy, deal?
