Are there any topics that haven’t been talked to death? (326 pages of threads) Serious question. which ones need to be discussed but aren’t?

I train … 1.5 hours a day. To talk about it as much would lead to overkill (disinterest) for me. I realize not everyone is like this.

It took me 2 days on the internet to basically find all the information I need for the next 4 years, in regards to training. Now, it’s just a matter of “doing it”. In the age of the internet I’m not seeing where “lack of information” or “disucssion” is ever a problem.

The internet is perfect for me b/c my life seems to be a series of “5 minute breaks” rather than an hour of 2 of dead time in which I could ramble with friends. Some folks smoke a cig, some folks go get a soda/coffee, some hang-out at the water cooler, watch comercials, etc … I make a post.

I guess I didn’t realize this was such a big deal. If off-topic posts need to go, then they need to go.
Now, I point out again, lots of folks complaining about off-topic threads, VERY FEW (out of al of us) commenting on on-topic threads. I wonder why off-topic threads get brought up? Seems like if everyone was disucssing on-topic stuff, there wouldn’t be any need for off-topic stuff. That can be taken any way anyone wants to take it. After all the bitching is done (form both sides), there will still be MANY on-topic posts that get very little attention.
If it is decided that off topic posts need to go bye-bye, or move to another forum, that can be done. Forcing people to post in the on-topic threads seems to be a much larger issue. Of course, it’s probably the fault of the off-topic posters that the on-topic posters don’t post in the on-topic threads wink

Sure. Then we spend the next hour debating what I meant by that “one sentence” and trying to figure out if I was “mad” or being “direct”. It seems to happen everytime someone (not just me) posts a brief opinion. Someone else interprets it as a judgement, a slam, a flame, etc and then the threads bursts out of control.
And yes, some of us are doing serious tri-training.

I started this thread about 24 hrs ago and now I would like to end it. Based on the number of views and horrific forum server performance lately, I would guess more than 40 hours of productivity in the world have gone down the drain on this meaningless topic…incredible.
Of course most of that was spent reading triple toe loop’s dissertations… :o)

If you don’t know about Gordo’s site then your are not a “serious” “hardcore” triathlete and must be a “poser” who got the “MDot tatoo” after a sprint race for “gay married couples” with “cold penis’” who don’t know if they are “christian” or “atheist” but love to take “polls” and talk about the “loss of a bike” and their “evil lying ex girlfriend” but missed the “boob at halftime” because they were stuck on the phone with the imaginary “Felt Customer Service dept” who were watching “Law and Order” while listening to “Jimi Hendrix” on “XM Radio” but had to stop and sing “happy birthday to Tibbs’ dog” who was upset because “Triplethreat” had crashed the forum server again…

Actually by the look of some of the nonsense discussed in here today I am glad it was sunny and I opted to try and chase some roadies for 75 miles (first group ride with my Powercranks and I am hurting since it was either hammer or get dropped).
At the risk of upsetting some, I think there are a few very inconsiderate people here who feel the need to post every thought that passes through their head. Can you imagine what this place would be like if everyone wished all their pets happy birthday or complained about their relationships, customers, religious preferences, etc etc? Yes I know I could post more on-topic items but I feel the problem is all the crap we have to sift through.

I expected an insult but did not anticipate a second grade sexual slur. The only context that “suck” or “blow” would ever apply to me and you is what would happen were we to line up and race. you would suck and I would blow your sorry ass off the course.
I think he’s making a reference to slowtwitch using a quote from the funny movie, Spaceballs.
The title of this thread includes the word “suck”. Mr. Tibbs is joking that the forum has gotten worse since the “suck” thread started. In other words people are coming out of the woodwork to post in the complain thread, but still aren’t posting in on-topic threads. One could say the off-topic posts complaining about the off-topic post contribute more to the demise than to the success of the board. That’s how I interpreted it to be.
So, in his creative, humorous way, he is saying the board no longer “sucks”, but that it “blows”.
I don’t think it’s directed at anyone specific. He even says “It’s slowtwitch. She’s (i.e., the board) has gone from suck to blow.”
