after signing up for a couple of 10K’s in the next couple of months, i’ve been thinking about switching to a run focus for a while. interested in hearing anyone’ input on: 1) what sort of training plan, how many runs/miles per week to prep for a 10K, and 2) would 2 swims and 2 rides be enough to maintain current swim and bike fitness for the next 2-3 months? thanks for the input!
Check out Desert Dudes Full Assed Challenge thread for some guidance. I’ve done something similar for the past couple winters and have had good results.
I’m also doing a run focus and using the coolrunning plan for half marathon. They have a 10k plan also.
Since 2 swims and 2 rides is probably less than what you are doing now, I doubt it will maintain your fitness. It will help though.
Might want to take a look at this…
desert dudes challenge looks good, but i seriously see no way in hell i could do 200 miles a month. maybe i’m just a pansy, but that is a hell of a lot of running (for a guy currently running 25 a week).

yeah, that’s understandable, if you still wanted to do it you could apply the principle and do 125 miles/month for example.
