Think your swimming is bad?

I counted a guy who took 82 strokes to swim (on his back) a 25 metre length. He was much better on his front, only taking 46 strokes.

I’ve also seen a woman who took 71 strokes to swim 1 length on her front.

So if you think your swim needs some work, rest assured it could be worse. I just hope nobody on here is one of the two people mentioned above!

You should have your face down at the pool, not counting people’s strokes! More swimming. Less observing!

I’m a lifeguard.

I saw two people swimming together in the same lane doing laps. Both took right around 2:15 per 25yds. they were doing more floating than swimming.

Yeah, I’m sure it lasted that long, more ST bragging…

I counted 103, but then again I was just an innocent observer…

We should all post up video of the worst swimmers at our local pools and see who wins (loses?)

RT, you were there.

i can understand poor form, slowness, etc for people just trying to get a low impact workout

who cares if you are inefficient if you are just there for excersize

BUT, some people, its like they are part sloth. They move so slowly and with so little force on the pull they barely move. This CANT be a workout of any kind.

How many strokes does someone have to be taking before they get rescued?

Those people aren’t part sloth…they just don’t want to get their hair wet.

the one I am thinking of DOES get her hair wet

its really wild to watch.

also there is a whole set of people who take the idea of ‘dont splash on hand entry’ way way too far

like I can seem them micromanaging their hand as they very very gently place it into the water

COME ON JUST SWIM YOU BASTARD I KNOW YOU WANT TO

I thought this thread would be about the Wongstar swim times…

I swim laps in a 19 yard pool in midtown and I feel like an absolute olympic champ as there’s ALWAYS somebody in the pool who makes me feel swim-competent. Recently there were two guys in particular, the first would roll with each stroke and nearly fold his body in half at the waist before extending/rolling to the other side to repeat the contortion. I’d be down and back twice before he’d finish a length (but he was in when i got there and in when i left) … the other guy looked like he might be a swimmer as he was getting into the pool. i just happened to be at the wall as he pushed off AND SWAM FURIOUSLY KICKING AND STROKING WITH HIS HEAD ABOVE WATER LEANING FROM SIDE TO SIDE!!! he then sat at the other wall catching his breath for about 4 minutes before repeating this cacophony of furious effort. 4 minutes rest and repeat. He made it about 6 lengths and headed to the locker room.

I manage a summer pool. We have one guy who will swim slowly, and get some of his hair wet, but a patch on the crown of his head stays dry the entire time. priceless.

This is funny, but now I swim with a masters team I’m starting to realize that’s probably how I look to the guys two lanes over…
