I heard him use the phrase at the end of today’s stage. He said he was surprised that a noted climber finished 10 minutes “in arrears” of the stage winner. It’s one of his favorite phrases, but it just sounds dirty and gay when pronounced with his accent. Actually, it sounds dirty and gay with any accent, but especially so with his. There’s just something wrong about announcing that one man finished “in arrears” of another man. I feel like I need a shower just typing that. Ugh!
