The value of focus weeks in training?

The plan I followed for my HIM had 3 focus in weeks in the second half of the plan. Swim week, bike week, and run week. Weekly Volume was still up there and overall but 2 out of the 3 took a back seat. Just wondering if this is something you guys do and how much you value it as part of your overall training?

I don’t really think that is a very effective method, as I prefer consistency, week in, week out. I would rather see my weekly hours stay in a narrow band with quality training in all three sports. The intensity is the most variable.

i dont see much value with it… unless if off season to work on some weakness but a safe bet is on consistancy across all 3 over and over and over… no easy way.
