Everybody has known about and been anxiously awaiting the new Felt F2C slated for delivery later this month and early March. Great bike, great value, great spec- typical of Felt.
But about a month or so ago we started getting signal traffic that suggested the introduction of a new, unadvertised, “secret” version called the F2C Team. This bike is or was supposed to be available in very limited numbers, have some pretty significant upspec on the F2C and a unique graphics package presumably from the Collavita Bolla Pro Cycling Team that is sponsored by Felt.
We weren’t if it was rumor mill material or not. The original F2C’s had not arrived yet, and the prospect of having an additional version seemed somewhat far fetched.
Well, as luck would have it, apparently the F2C Team is real, has shipped and is slated to hit some dealers next week. We have a few sold units and none for sale- they came and went sight unseen. I couldn’t even get one since we learned no 52cm’s would be available.
So, if you find out your Felt dealer has one, check it out. I have no idea what they will look like, or the full details on the spec. We sold them to a few customers sight unseen who are already Felt brand loyalists.
Check it out when they arrive. If there is interest and no one beats me to it I will post a photo. We expect them next week.
Oh, yes, that is right. I should have been more clear on that.
The information we were given prior to selling the bikes was that the F2C Team is a version of the F2C we saw at Interbike- which was super nice.
The F2C Team is/was supposed to be the “step-up” versions I suppose of the standard F2C. It had some upspec components and the “team” graphics. I’m still not 100% clear on the details of the upspec.
Very few F2C Teams were even made available and it was a quite a scramble to get them. Basically, we got a call with some vague info and instruction to “call any customers who may be interested” We’re only talking about a few bikes here and te catch is we had yto be certain these bikes would even wrok (fit) the customers. That was a crap shoot since I haven’t even seen the bikes to measure them. That whole aspect of the deal I wasn;t too comfortable with, but I let the guys know that if we fiound out they didn;t fit they would be easy to sell to another customer at some point who did fit them, so nothing lost really.
Anyway, it was just an odd surprise and interesting. I’ve been wanting a Felt Carbon Bike myself to try out and put some miles on over the summer but there was no opportunity on this version since they didn;t bring in my size. I am waiting for the standard F2C. Superdave actually has an F1C today at a bike show down in Ohio at Wheelie Fun Multisport. Wheelie Fun will be the first place consumers will actually ever see the Carbon Felts in person I believe.
Anyway, if interested, check your local Felt dealer. I’m looking forward to seeing them here next week.
I spoke with someone at Felt yesterday and he told me about this as well. From what I can remember, everything that is yellow on the F2C will be red on the Team.
It will come with FSA two piece cranks, carbon steer tube, carbon bars and seatpost. The hubs are upgraded as well but I can’t remember exactly what. I’m sure there were a few other changes, but this is what I recall. I believe retail is in the $3700.00 range.
I’m glad I started this thread, as dennisr has shed more light on the graphics and parts kit that even I had had (thanks dennisr).
Another thing worth mentioning- when you visit your local Felt dealer to see these bikes you will notice the bikes look significantly different- and better- than the photo on either Felt’s website or in the catalog.
The photos on the website and in the cataog do not depict any appearance of clear carbon weave on the frame. The photo from Julian in England (above) shows the bike we saw at Interbike and that bike- a representation of the production versions- does have a significant carbon weave finish under gloss clear coat. It looks much better in person than in the catalog.
A American field engineer in a vague South American country is living there with his wife. There is the normal degree of political volatility.
He winds up the victim of a kidnapping for ransom scheme by guerilla insurgents. The wife, after no small measure of drama and difficulty, contracts with a former SAS operative who now specializes in hostage negotiation.
The situation degenerates with the political environment until it spins into a desperate situation that only drastic action can remedy.
Unlike a lot of movies of this sort, this one “feels” and looks very, very real. Little details like the weather in the country and things like that are spot on. The technical accuracy of the operators is spot on also. A very real depiction. Awesome. 5 Stars *****, Not to be missed.
Thanks Tom, I will get that for next weekend, sounds worth a watch.
I have just finished watching the original version of “The Bourne Identity” with Richard Chamberlain and Jacklyn Smith (now that was a good looking woman). I watched the remake a fortnight ago and borrowed this for comparision as I thought the re-make was not very trueto the book. This is quite a contrast and is reminisent of a gentler time, it is very true to the book and s such parts company with Mr.Damon’s storyline very early in the 3 hours that it runs for! There is a very real plot that moves the story along without resorting to non-contributary action scenes. Of course it seems rather amateurish nowadays, but is very watchable for one of those total recovery days.
You should watch the “Behind the Scenes” notes on the DVD for this film. Really outstanding and they talk about how hard it was filming the movie in its true location.
You want to host some photos for me Tom, I’ve got that F1C out of the box and all prettied up and I snapped some phtos for the 100 or so emails I’ve got asking for pictures.
The 56cm frame was 1018 grams on my digital gram scale! That puts the frame and fork right at 3 pounds.
The BB shell and headtube area are huge, I don’t expect any movement there and should pass the “Aderhold” test with flying colors. Let me know when you get this note and I’ll send over some photos, other interested parties can send their requests to d_koesel@hotmail.com
